NOUVEAUX COLORANTS MONOAZOIQUES; NOUVEAUX-PRODUITS INTERMEDIAIRES POUR LA FABRICATION'DE CES COLORANTS MONOAZOIQUES, ET PROCEDE POUR:LEUR PREPARATION; PROCEDE DE TEINTURE ET D'IMPRESSION A L'AIDE DES DITS COLORANTS, ET PRODUITS TEINTS. CONFORMES A CEUX OBTENUS.

EMI2.7
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

EMI4.4

= benzene-lsulfonic acid or 2-amino-5- (4 '= tert-butyl- or cyclohexyl-benzoyl-amino) -banzene-1-sulfonic acid N-ethylphenylamide.
These amino-sulfones and these amides of amino-sulfonic acids can be diazotized according to the usual methods which can be used for the diazotization of compounds which are difficult to diazotize, for example using nitrosyl acid sulfate.
It is often preferable to precipitate the disazo compounds, for example, by
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
dilution of the diazotization mixture with 1-water. The compounds are filtered and copulated in the form thus obtained with 2-aminonaphthalene-6-sulfonic acids.
Coupling is carried out in an acidic medium, ranging, for example, from weakly acidic medium to congo red to acetic medium. For this purpose, it is possible, for example, to first transform the 2-aminonaphthalene-6-monosulfonic acid used, into one of its alkali salts, then switch back to free acid by adding acetic acid, which provides a suspension which is added to the filtered diazo compound. The free mineral acid formed during the coupling is buffered, for example using sodium acetate; optionally, the temperature is raised a little. The product formed can be isolated from the reaction mixture in the usual way, for example by neutralization with sodium carbonate, filtration and drying.
The dyes obtained by the process of the present invention are new products; in the form of free acids, they correspond to the general formula (2) described above. Among them, those which correspond to the formula gave particularly interesting results:
EMI3.1
and more particularly those of this formula which contain, as residue Z, a benzene radical bearing at least one alkyl residue containing at least 3 and at most 6 carbon atoms and located, preferably, in the para position relative to the -NH- group. CO-. They are suitable for dyeing and printing a wide variety of materials, especially those of animal origin, such as leather, silk and mainly wool, as well as various synthetic fibers, such as those of "animalized rayon. ", superpolyamides and superpolyurethanes, etc.
The dyes obtained with the aid of these dyes are distinguished by their high-value shades and good fastnesses.
The invention also extends to dyeing and printing methods using the dyes described above as well as to materials dyed or printed according to these methods.
The following examples illustrate the invention without limiting it in any way. The parts and percentages indicated are by weight and the temperatures in degrees centigrade.
Example 1.

Sulfuric acid, solution corresponding to 7 parts of sodium nitrite When the diazotization is complete, the yellowish diazo which has precipitated is poured onto ice and filtered off under vacuum.
A very homogeneous paste is made with 23.9 parts of 2-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene -6-sulfonic acid, 13.5 parts of a 30% sodium hydroxide solution, and 20 parts of sodium hydroxide. water, then, from the sodium salt thus obtained, the free acid is again released, using an excess of acetic acid. The diazo is intimately kneaded with this paste. After some time, the whole is diluted with 200 parts of water and the free sulfuric acid is gradually buffered with sodium acetate, moderately raising the temperature. When coupling is complete, the mixture is neutralized with sodium carbonate, the resulting dye is filtered and dried.
It is presented in the form of a dark powder, giving violet-red solutions in water and dyes the wool, in an acetic bath, in red-bordeaux tones, of a remarkable solidity to the treatments by way. wet.
If, instead of the diazo, one uses that of 2-amino-5- (4 "-tertiobutyl-benzoylamino) -1, 1'-diphenyl-sulfone, a dye of similar properties is obtained.

After diazotization, the whole is poured onto 1000 to 1200 parts of ice; stirring the diazo is obtained in an easy to filter form; it is then filtered under vacuum. 25.3 parts

of 2-methylamsno-S-naphtho.-sulfoni2 acid, they are stirred with 13.5 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution and 50 parts of water; the sodium salt thus obtained is returned to the free acid using an excess of acetic acid.
The paste formed by the diazo is added to this suspension, and the liberated mineral acid is buffered with sodium acetate, moderately raising the temperature (advantageously to around 40). Once the coupling is complete, it is weakly alkalinized with sodium carbonate; the resulting dye is filtered and dried. It is in the form of a violet-gray powder which dissolves in water to give violet-red solutions and dyes the wool in an acetic bath, in violet tones somewhat tending to reddish brown; this dye has remarkable fastness to wet treatments.
Example 3.
2 parts of the dye obtained according to the first paragraph of Example 1 are dissolved in 4000 parts of water, 10 parts of crystallized sodium sulphate are added to the dye bath, then one enters at 40 - 50 with 100. parts of wool. 3 parts of 40% acetic acid are then added, brought to the boiling point in half an hour and dyed for 3/4 hour at this temperature. After washing and drying there is a solid dye of a burgundy red.
