LH#USE . A RUBAN-CONSTITUEE PAR mES 'MAILLONS ,LIMEURS ARTICULES ENTRE EUX, ET PASSANT :SUR UN CYLTNDRE ,DE COMMANDE ;ET ,UN CYLINDRE .DE TENSION.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

LH # USE. A RIBBON-CONSTITUTED BY MY LINKS, FILMERS ARTICULATED BETWEEN THEM, AND PASSING: ON A CYLTNDRE, OF CONTROL; AND, A TENSION CYLINDER.
The present invention relates to a filing machine comprising a tape consisting of file links articulated between them, which pass over a drive cylinder and a tensioning cylinder.
In known filing machines used for roughing, filing and finishing parts., The filing tape is made up of an articulated chain, provided with filing elements, the cylinder set in rotation by a motor for controlling this chain having components radially movable drive comprising bosses projecting from its periphery, which attack the rear edges of two parallel articulation links of each of the links of the chain. This type of control requires a relatively complicated constitution and involves unfavorable stress on the articulated links and drive members, which accelerates the wear of such relatively expensive filing chains and their drive members.
The invention aims to eliminate these drawbacks using simple means and it is characterized in that each of the links, shaped from a single piece of sheet metal in an endless flat loop and forming on its top a surface Filer, is guided on the control cylinder by a tooth of the latter, the control teeth passing through recesses in the underside of the links and gripping the preceding link at its part of curvature assembled by a following pin or link .
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a front elevation, partly in section, taken along line 1-1 of Fig. 2, of the filer.
Fig. 2 is an axial vertical section, taken along line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan of the machine and a horizontal section taken along the line III-III of FIG. 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 4 shows the guiding of the filing tape on the control cylinder in a peripheral axial section passing through a part of the cylinder and the tape.
The control cylinder 3, connected to be rotated in a manner known per se to a motor 2, by means of a reduction mechanism, is mounted in the lower part of the frame 1 of the filing machine and a Tensioning cylinder 6 'is supported on a carriage 5, which can slide vertically by means of the spindle 4 in the upper part of the frame 1. The filing tape 7, guided on the cylinders 3 and 6, is made, as in can be seen in fig 4, by separate links in the form of an endless flat loop, assembled using pins 8, each of these links being formed by an appropriately stamped sheet metal strip which comprises ends 9 curved towards each other and engaging one into the other, for example in the manner of a so-called dovetail joint.
The outer sides of the links are formed by suitable milling of grooves in the form of filing surfaces 10. The equally flat undersides, formed by the ends bent towards each other of the links of the file, to which we give relatively short dimensions, apply to the periphery of the control cylinder 3. The teeth 3 ', correspondingly shaped of the drive cylinder, pass through recesses 21 of the underside of each link and engage by their active sides, each the previous link to its curved part articulated to the next link.
The width of the recesses 21 is thus adapted to that of the flanks of the teeth so that the filing strip is at the same time surely guided to prevent its lateral displacement by this simple control by teeth directly attacking each link of the file.
This control mode allows, unlike known filing machines, the use of a filing tape consisting only of links in one piece and therefore much cheaper, as well as a simple toothed drive cylinder. , wear resistant, having no sidewalls increasing friction and preventing lateral slippage of the tape.
Furthermore, in accordance with the invention, since the teeth of the control cylinder do not directly attack the flat ends of the links, but the semi-cylindrical enveloping surfaces of the bent parts forming the joints of the links, a smoother rolling of the! 'Il- ban on the toothed drive cylinder and much less wear on the joints is ensured.
The filing tape is guided at the working place by a support bar II adapted to the profile of the tape and which is interchangeably fixed in a support 13 placed removably in the table 12 of the machine.
A carriage 16, which can be moved perpendicular to the filing surface by means of a lever 14, by means of a pinion mechanism 15 is arranged in the table 12 of the machine for pressing a workpiece to be filed. - be the filing tape. The carriage 16 has, on the top, holes 17 for placing in an adjustable and interchangeable manner a jaw 18 gripping the workpiece. The carriage 16 is provided with adjustable stop members 19 for determining a selected advancement position, which allows rational working in series of similar work pieces.
