LAMPHOUDER MET PRIKKLEMMEN SPECIAAL GESCHIKT VOOR OPENLUCHT-
INSTALLATIES
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

LAMP HOLDER WITH SPIKE CLIPS SPECIALLY SUITABLE FOR OUTDOOR
INSTALLATIONS
The invention relates to a lamp holder, especially -but not exclusively- suitable for outdoor installations, such as for example public lighting, billboards, signaling devices ... etc.
The article of the invention is characterized by an absolute water and moisture tightness and an extremely strong clamping arrangement of the incoming current wires on the respective contact screws of the lamp shell. .
According to the invention, these extremely important advantages in connection with the above-mentioned purpose are obtained by realizing the problem-like lamp holder from substantially two pieces, for example made of a molding material such as synthetic resin, namely a base and a top part fitting therein. .
Both pieces are provided with a pair of V-shaped grooves, which are arranged so that when the top and base are pushed together and by screwing a screw supported on the base and holding in the top, towards each other. are driven. the electrical conductors laid in the grooves are clamped tightly so that their insulating coating fits perfectly with the outer walls of both pieces, thus ensuring a perfectly hermetic seal.
It is a feature of the invention that on the bottom of each groove of the base is provided an elevation coinciding with this groove; these elevations co-act with the pointed ends of the lamp contact sleeve protruding from the bottoms of the grooves of the top in such a way that the elevations of the base will carry the conductors - of any diameter - all through the holder. Press on the running length so that the pointed ends of the contact elements penetrate the insulating material of the conductors and establish a perfect puncture contact with these conductors.
The operating advantages and essential features of the object of the invention are further illustrated by the following description.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This is the embodiment of an embodiment by no means limiting the invention, which is shown schematically by the figures of the accompanying drawing.
Figures 1 and 2 are an external view and an external view with partial radial longitudinal section, respectively, of a lamp holder according to the invention.
The figure 3 is a perspective view of this lamp holder with the top part, the base and their fixing screw shown separately.
Figures 4 and 5 are two larger-scale cross-sectional views of the piercing contact device.
Figures 6, 7 and 8 schematically illustrate three mounting examples of the lamp holder of the invention.
In Figures 1, 2 and 3, it is noted that the object of the invention essentially consists of two pieces, namely a base 1 and a top 2, the latter of which constitutes the actual lamp holder. The top 2 contains inwardly the usual contact sleeve and the central contact lip for the incandescent lamp (these known per se are not shown).
The ends of the fixing screws of these two contact elements, 3-4 respectively, are pointed and protrude from the bottom of two V-shaped parallel grooves 5-6 respectively, provided at the top end of the piece 2. The base 1 has a collar 2 that fits over the top end of the top. Two V-shaped grooves 9-10 are provided on both sides in this collar 1, which grooves have the same mutual distance as the grooves 5-6 respectively of the top part. In the center line of each of the grooves 9-10 is a eminence, 11-12 respectively foreseen. The base 1 is fixed to the top 6 by means of a screw 13, capturing in a nut block 14 captured in the top.
Furthermore, according to the present exemplary embodiment selected, the base 1 has two radially protruding lips 15 with holes 16, and the top 2 carries, in the considered case, four radially placed longitudinal ribs 17, these elements 15-17 of course forming one piece with the remaining ribs. pectively the base 1 and the top 2.
From the above-mentioned principal elements of the object of the invention, it is clear that when the two live wires 18 are laid in the grooves 1¯.4 of the top g, without even having their insulation covering removed, and then the foot piece 1 is passed over. the top part of the top .6 is slid, after which the screw 13 is screwed on, the walls of the V-shaped grooves 5-6 and 9-10 will progressively move towards each other so as to adhere to the outer circumference of the container,
pressing the insulating coating of the lead wires 18 gently but firmly so that the patchy walls are completely flush with the outer circumference of the lead wires covering. As this occurs, the elevations 11-12 also press on the conductors and the latter are automatically brought into contact with the pointed ends 3, 4 of the contact elements of the lamp holder (see Figures 4-5). This is done independently of the diameter of the conductors.
Indeed, like. Figures 4 and 5 demonstrate, with respectively a thin and a thick current wire, a good puncture contact and a hermetic closure obtained, through the intimate cooperation of the V-shaped grooves which together form a progressively decreasing section when the screw 13 is tightened, and by the elevations 11-12 pressing on the lead wires 18. Fastening conductors of such diameter, always in the same good operating conditions, can therefore take place by tightening the screws 13 more or less, depending on the thickness of these conductors.
Figures 6, 7 and 8 show some examples of assemblies that can be done with the aid of the lamp holder, namely according to figure 6 the lamp holders can simply be threaded on a pair of conductors 18 and hang from them, according to figure 7 the holders can simply be base 1 and fastening lips are fixed to which face by means of screws 19, while figure 8 is a very characteristic feature of the invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
namely mounting, the lamp holder can thus be fixed on a plate, panel or in principle any such supporting surface 22,
that this support surface is clamped with locknuts between the top edges of the projections 17 and the ends of screws 20 placed in the holes 16 of the fastening lips 15 of the base 1. In the latter case, a very practical and aesthetic whole is then obtained, especially as regards the front side of the support element 22, from which only the lamp and the upper collar of the upper part protrude. This mounting can be especially useful in the realization of advertising and / or signage boards.
It goes without saying that the exemplary embodiment discussed above, as well as the explained application cases, are not binding and have only been cited by way of information.
