"Nouveau mouvement d'horlogerie"

"New watch movement"
The present invention relates to a clock movement comprising a member for driving the minute hand.
The object of the invention is to provide the pendulums and clocks with a drive means of an entirely new type.
To this end, in the clock according to the invention, the aforesaid drive member consists of a vertical disc rotated by the weight of a certain number of balls freely supported at the periphery thereof. and in an asymmetric number with respect to the vertical plane normal to the plane of the disc and passing through the center of the latter, means being provided to end on the periphery of the disc the balls which have left it during its rotation.
One of the characteristics of the subject of the invention resides in the fact that the aforesaid disc has a peripheral groove provided with housings for the aforesaid balls, while an endless belt with buckets brings the balls back to the periphery of the.

disc after they have left it during their rotation.
Other details and features will emerge clearly from the description of a clock according to the invention given below by way of non-limiting example and with / reference to the accompanying drawing.
The accompanying figure shows a perspective view of the pendulum.
Note the dial 1 and the watch movement 2 / whose spring is replaced by the disc 3. This disc, which has a peripheral groove, is provided with cavities, a certain number of which are occupied by the balls 4. The a number of these cavities and of balls occupying them simultaneously must be carefully chosen. Thus it is proposed to accommodate an approximately double number of balls on the side of the disc indicating the direction of rotation of the latter.
If, for example, we take 24 ball housings, the smoothest running of the mechanism will be ensured by the presence of 9 balls at the periphery of the disc. Of these 9 balls 6 will occupy cavities located on the side of the disc indicating the direction of rotation of the latter, while 3 will form a counterweight on the opposite side.
The exhaust and the rotation of the disc can be adjusted in such a way that the latter completes a complete revolution around its axis at 60 ', the fall of a ball being provided every 2', 3 ".
It is advantageous to bring back as soon as possible on the periphery of the disc the balls which left it when their diameter falls on the horizontal radius of the disc.
To this end, a track (5) advantageously formed by a detection rail U, the coefficient of friction of which is negligible, (6) leads said balls to the buckets / of the endless belt (7).
The latter receives its movement from a dynamo or any other suitable motor device. The dynamo in question may have a reserve of energy in the form of a storage battery.

in order to allow it to operate without interruption in the event of power failure. A second rail receives the ball of said endless belt and deposits it in a free cavity of the disc.
In this way, the circuit accomplished by the ball after the drop of the disc is limited to an extremely short time.
It must however be understood that the invention is in no way limited to its embodiments described above and that many modifications can be made thereto, in particular as regards the number, the shape, the dimensions, the arrangement and constitution of the elements involved in its production, without departing from the scope of the present patent application, provided that any changes are compatible with the spirit of the claims formulated below.
