<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Frame saw with several hydraulically controlled blades for marble, provided with a connecting rod of automatically adjustable length".
The object of the invention is the elimination of a large part of the mechanisms necessary for the raising and lowering of the reciprocating saw or frame saw with several blades thanks to a new hydraulic control. with which when stopping the machine a mounted short is obtained, in order to free the saw blades from the block and then to be able to resume work quickly, and which in addition, eliminates the need to stop the saw until now when, as a result of the lowering of the frame or chain link rod must be shortened or lengthened, because according to the invention this is carried out automatically by hydraulic control,
An embodiment of the hydraulically operated multi-blade frame saw for marble,
according to the invention, is shown in the accompanying drawing.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
.la- fig, l is a side view of the marble saw with its control.
Fig.2 is a plan view, Fig.5 is a cross section of the same saw.
Fig.4 shows schematically the parallel guidance of the two cross members of the saw frame, Fig.5 is a longitudinal section through the self-adjusting connecting rod.
Fig.6 is a sectional view of a detail of Fig.5.
The fixed frame of the saw is formed by four angle posts a (fig. 1,2,3), each containing a hydraulic cylinder b with a long piston.
On these pistons rest the carriages d (fig. 1,2,3), which carry the shafts of the sleepers, which, by their lower ends, in turn carry the frame f of the saw,
The carriages d move in special guides of the a-pillars and are controlled by the movements of the pistons c.
To the frame f of the tang is articulated at g (fig. 1,2) the long connecting rod h, which communicates to the frame f its back-and-forth movement and which is connected to the crank 1 of the control,
The length of this connecting rod is automatically adjusted as will be explained in more detail below.
To ensure the raising and lowering of the frame f of the saw and the carriages in perfect parallelism, that is to say completely equal movements in all the uprights, the carriages d are connected, for example by the system of cables closed on itself as shown schematically at. Fig. 4. Thanks to the alternate fixing shown of the cables to the upper surface of one of the carriages and to the inner surface of the other, the elevation of one of the carriages d must correspond to a rise of the same amplitude of the other cart.
Targets 1 are also visible in fig. 1,2,3 and they

connecting the chariets d in pairs to the two lanyard sides and to one of the front sides of the frame saw The pump control m (fig. 2) sends the liquid through the pipe to the cylinders b to obtain a rapid rise of the saw frame when the job is finished.
On the other hand, in order to be able to adjust the speed of descent of the frame f, that is to say the penetration of the saw blades into the block of marble, we activate an ordinary tap which evacuates the liquid from the cylinders !? This tap can be fitted with an automatic adjustment.
The same pump group m can supply the cylinder of the hydraulic accumulator o (fig, l and 2), which is obviously connected by the pipe p (fig. 2) to the cylinders b of the saw.
As soon as for any reason (power interruption etc.) the motor driving the saw stops, an automatic contactor, for example a magnetic contactor, opens the .SI valve. (fig. 2) of the accumulator, which produces an immediate rise in pressure and starting from the pistons c which raise the frame f of the saw.
By this ascent, the saw blades are released from the block and work is resumed without difficulty. The connecting rod according to the invention, the length of which is automatically adjustable, consists of a rigid part h (fig. 1,2 and 5 ) with a cylindrical piston rod r carrying a cylinder s, shown in section in Fig. 5, which is connected to the frame f by a bolt joint g.
The piston rod r carries the piston t (fig. 5), which is movable in the cylinder s; the two chambers of the cylinder communicate through passages v (fig. 6), which pass through plugs z, with an upper chamber of u connection The cylinder and a large part of the chamber u which serves as both connection and reservoir are filled with oil.
The total length of the connecting rod can therefore be modified by moving the piston t in the cylinder s.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
When the saw frame descends while sawing the marble block, the connecting rod must shorten to a corresponding extent, and like the frame t with the cross members e owing to its weight always seeks to occupy it. vertical position and thus oscillates at angles equal to the vertical position, as soon as this is no longer the case, the oil passes from one chamber of the cylinder to the other,
This displacement of the oil produces the automatic shortening of the connecting rod to the value which corresponds to the oscillation or symmetrical deflection of the cross member e with respect to the vertical.
Things happen in a similar way when the connecting rod has to be lengthened.
The transverse motion of the passages in the plugs z is chosen such that during the symmetrical oscillating movement of the sleepers, the quantity of oil which flows through said passages does not produce unstable displacements of the piston. t in cylinder s.
Instead of the plugs z in which passages are formed, it is also possible to provide four valves, two of which are controlled and the others operate automatically.
Thanks to the fact that the oscillation of the saw frame is always symmetrical with respect to the vertical, shorter saw blades can be used than in the multi-blade frame saws known hitherto.
