<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

method and device for the indirect heating of cooking ovens and the like.
With regard to the heating of baking ovens and drying ovens for which the burnt gases from combustion pass through heating pipes before reaching the chimney, there is the notorious drawback of the uneven distribution heat, because the heating gases are at a significantly higher temperature when they enter the pipe than when they leave.
The present invention avoids this drawback in that the gases intended for heating the furnace undergo vigorous stirring in a closed oven by means of a blower. The inlet of the gases coming from the fireplace is at a certain point of this circuit, another point of which is provided for an outlet of a suitable quantity of burnt gases. Thanks to the high speed of the heating gases in the circuit and in particular in the heating element, we obtain this result that the temperature difference of the gases between the inlet and the outlet of the elements
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
heaters is extremely low, that is to say practically zero, so that a very uniform distribution of heat is obtained on the heating surface.
As the quantity of heating gas circulated in the circuit per unit of time is several times greater than that which is formed in the hearth during the same time, the gas arriving from the hearth at very high temperature is immediately cooled to the temperature. temperature of the circulating gas owing to the much larger volume thereof, which is also kept at a constant temperature.
Since the heat coefficient of a hot gas at a heating surface is a function of the speed at which this gas sweeps the surface, the high speed at which the gas flows through the heating element requires a significantly lower temperature difference between the heating gas and the heating surface in order to transmit to the latter a determined quantity of heat. This is why the volume of gas circulated in a closed circuit can have a significantly lower temperature than the gases which, in the case of indirect heating by gases commonly employed to date, pass through the heating element at a low speed.
The application of the invention therefore ensures this other important advantage that the temperature of the evacuated gases can be kept much lower than in the case of indirect heating by the gases used elsewhere, thus reducing the losses by the evacuated gases.
An exemplary embodiment of a device for implementing the heating method according to the invention is shown schematically in the drawing.
The heating tubes have the common heating element! - quent on the one hand to a distribution pipe b and on the other hand to a collecting pipe c. A communication is made between these pipes by the pipe d, the wind tunnel f and the pipe e so that, under the action of the wind tunnel f,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
a circulation several times subdivided by the tubes a can be established in the direction of the arrows indicated.
In the pipe d enters the mouth of the combustion chamber g of a gas fireplace into which the gas is introduced by means of a Bunsen burner h.
It is advantageous, as indicated, to bend the mouth of the chamber g in the direction of the flow which occurs in the pipe.
From the pipe starts an evacuation pipe i opening to the open air. For adjustment purposes, it is useful to suppress this pipe with a butterfly k or other adjustable closing member.
As a result, relatively small quantities of gas at significantly higher temperature are introduced from the combustion chamber into the torrent of heating gases flowing through lines e, b, a, c, d, and equal quantities of cooled gas. escape through pipe i.
As the heating gases are introduced under pressure from the chamber into the pipe d, it is thus possible to facilitate the circulation and sometimes even to completely eliminate the blower f. On the other hand, by arranging the discharge pipe i elsewhere, the introduction of hot pressurized combustion gases can also be done on the discharge side of the blower.
