<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"7ALVB FOR WATER AND GAS LAMINATION IN OHAUFFE-BAINS"
In the bath heater valves built up to now, the return of the water valve to its closed position is controlled either by water pressure or by means of a spring.
In some of these valves, the gas and water compartments are separated from each other by a deformable oloison consisting of a flexible membrane, made of metal or rubber, which has the disadvantage of corroding or deteriorating. and thus quickly put the valve out of service.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Finally, to ensure the sealing of the seals, the known valves have rubber gaskets and stuffing boxes which have the drawback of not allowing free play of the mechanical components and of often preventing the correct functioning of the valve. these latter.
The present invention relates to a valve for the simultaneous distribution of water and gas in bath heaters which is essentially characterized by the following points:
1 .. the water valve and the gas valve are all sets: mounted in the same body, shaped so that the separation between the water and gas chambers is ensured permanently by one of the walls of the valve body without any gasket packing.
2 - the water chamber. which is connected, on one side, to the pressurized water inlet pipe, and on the other side, to the heating coil of the bath contains, mounted gently in the inlet connection, a valve water which is oons- titué by an inverted bell, cut near its bottom of inlet openings and on the round of which rests, by one of its ends, a lever fixed at its other end on a shaft passing through, without a stuffing box, the wall of the water chamber and on which is wedged, outside the latter, a second lever controlling the movements of the gas valve.
3 - the gas chamber which is connected, on the one hand, to the gas inlet duct and on the other hand by means of a toggle, to the burner of the bath heater, contains a valve, loaded by a mass returning said valve to the closed position, which is provided with a rod, guided in one of the walls of the gas chamber, outside which said rod protrudes and is above of the free end of the external lever
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
laughing at the water chamber and integral with the internal lever resting on the water valve.
The valve of the invention is. as it is conceived, entirely metallic and without rubber, neither spring, nor stuffing-box, the separation between the water and gas chambers is ensured in a constant way by the very arrangement of the single body enclosing the two valves water and gas, the jet of which is absolutely free and free from any jamming.
In addition, controlling the movements of the gas valve by means of the lever specified above only requires a very small angular displacement of the axis which carries it, which reduces friction to a minimum and allows remove the cable gland.
Finally, by the provisions adopted, the valve of the invention forms a single foolproof block, very safe to operate, excessively simple construction and therefore a lower cost price than that of current valves.
In order to fix ideas, there will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawing and by way of example an embodiment of the valve for bath heaters, established according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side elevation.
Fig. 2 is an end view.
Fig 3 is a longitudinal vertical section made along the broken line A B 0 D of fig 2.
Fig. 4 is a horizontal section along E-E of FIG. 1.
The rod 5 is a transverse vertical section along F-F of FIG. 3.
As shown in the accompanying drawing, the valve of the invention comprises a bronze body of a single piece 1 oonformed so as to have two interior chambers 2 and 3.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
fully independent of each other and having no communication between them,
The lower part of the body 1 in which the chamber 2 is formed is connected, on the one hand, by means of a socket 4 and a suitable connector on the pressurized water pipe and, on the other hand, by a connector that screws onto the threaded end 5 of chamber 2, on the heater coil.
In the socket 4, suitably bored and turned, is mounted, so as to be able to slide with gentle friction, a water inlet valve which consists of an inverted bell 6 in the wall of which are cut openings 7. These openings 7 are arranged so as to be closed by the internal face of the sleeve 4 when the valve 6 occupies the closed position shown in solid lines FIG. 3.and rests, by its base, on a grid 8, fixed in the socket 4.
When, on the contrary, the valve 6 is lifted, in the position shown in dotted lines in the same figure, the openings 7 of the bell 6 constituting the water valve, are unmasked and put the interior of the chamber into communication with water 2 with the pressurized water inlet pipe, thus allowing this water to circulate through the heating-bath coil.
Inside the water chamber 2 is mounted, on a pin 9 journaling in a socket 10 made of cast iron with the body 1, a lever 11 ending in a spherical bulge 12 which forms a counterweight and tends to bring this lever back to its low position and keep it in contact with the top of the water valve 6.
On the free end of the axis 9 is also oalé a second lever 13 which is thus disposed outside the valve body and is integral with the angular movements of the lever 11 housed in the water chamber.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The upper part of the body 1 in which the chamber 3 is formed for the distribution of gas to the burner rail @ of the bath heater, is surmounted by a chamber 14, attached by screwing to the body 1 and connected, by the through bushing 15 and a suitable fitting, on the gas inlet pipe.
The two chambers 14 and 3 are separated from each other by an oloison 16 in which the seat 17 of the olapet is provided.
18 intended to control the admission of gas into chamber 3 and to the burner rail of the bath heater, which is in communication, through the connection sleeve 19 and the toggle 20 with said chamber 3.
The gas valve 18 is normally recalled to its seat
17 by a counterweight 21 fixed to the head of said valve, which is provided with a rod 22 which, passing through the lower bottom of the chamber 3) is guided in said font, below which it extends so that its free end is located above the lever 13, outside the valve body and integral with the lever
11 which is in permanent contact with the water valve 6, as explained above,
The operation is as follows:
The water 6 and gas 18 valves occupying the position shown in full milking, FIG. 3, intercept the flow of water and gas through the heater, so that the valve is at rest.
The opening of the hot water inlet tap in a bathtub or in any other device served by a water heater being open, immediately causes, by placing the water chamber 2 in communication with the atmosphere, a certain depression - in -the-said chamber 2, and, consequently, the lifting of the water valve 6
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
and the flow of water through the heater coil.
This lifting movement of the valve 6, shown in ponotué fig. 3, has the effect of simultaneously moving the two levers 11 and 13 from bottom to top and of lifting, by means of lever 13, the valve 18 which then gives passage to the gas, taking the position shown in dotted fig. 3.
Closing the hot water tap, stopping the water circulation in chamber 2, restores the pressure balance on the two faces of the top of the water valve 6, so that the latter goes down and takes again the closed position shown in solid lines fig. 3, by bringing with it the levers 11 and 13 and thus allowing the gas valve 18 to fall back on its seat and to close the gas supply.
