Abstract
The invention provides a new type of heat exchange device, as well as assembleable elements for the composition of such a heat exchange, in particular cooling device, wherein an adjustable intensity of heat transfer, in particular step-wise adjustable cooling with pulse functions, can also be realized in a simple manner. The basic element of the invention is a thermally good conductive base plate with upright fins or cooling fins of desired cross-section (such as e.g. I, T, T cross profile, etc.) formed as one integral piece, with an open-cell metal foam between the fins. mounted at a specified distance from the base plate. In a preferential embodiment of the invention, the base element of the cooling device consists of a metal (typically aluminum) base plate integrally formed (typically by extrusion) with raised cooling fins that exhibit a cross-shaped T-profile. Between the vertical top ribs of the cooling fins and resting on the horizontal ribs of the cruciform, thermally conductive porous metal elements, preferably open-cell aluminum foam with high pore density, are arranged in close contact with the surface of the cooling ribs.

II
The present invention has for its object to provide a heat exchange element in which a substantially greater heat transfer can be realized than with the conventional heat exchangers.
A second object of the invention is the provision of intensive coolers / cooling elements.
A further object of the invention is to provide a heat exchanger with a thermally conductive porous structure, more particularly from metal and in particular metal foam with an open cell structure, which offers the possibility of varying the heat exchange capacity, in particular intensifying it according to need, and this on controllable resp. controllable / adjustable manner, in particular stepwise.
Additional objectives resp. advantages of the present invention are discussed in the detailed description below of preferential embodiments of the invention.
These objects are optimally realized according to the invention by providing a heat exchange device with the technical characteristics according to claim 1, namely comprising a base surface of thermally conductive material, more particularly a base plate of metal, on which is a plurality of (cooling) fins fixed at a regular distance from each other and located substantially perpendicular to the base plate, characterized in that the cooling fins have a cross-shaped type of T-profile with an extended T-trunk above the horizontal segment of the T, and with the characteristic that at the top of the cooling fins a thermally conductive porous open-cell structure, more particularly metal foam, is arranged, wherein each time a metal foam element is arranged between two adjacent T-profile fins and wherein the L-shaped upper sides of the cooling fins each form a seat for the adjacent ends of the open-cell foam metal elements.
An alternative embodiment of the invention is defined in independent claim 11, wherein the cooling fins or slats of a thermally conductive base plate are contacted at least laterally with open-cell metal foam, such that the space between two adjacent cooling fins is occupied by metal foam, which at a given distance of the base plate is sandwiched between the upright slats and leaves an open space above the base plate. With upright slats with T-profile resp. double cross-shaped T-profile, the metal foam contacts the bottom of the horizontal T-element, resp. also the top of the lower horizontal element of double cross-shaped T-blades.
The device according to the invention can preferably be assembled from separate segments, each consisting of a base plate element of a certain length provided with T-shaped cooling fins, wherein the base plate element is flat / linear or possibly curved / curved. As a result, the segments - depending on their degree of curvature, length and assembly technique - can be combined into a heat exchange device of desired shape (length, circumference, contour) ranging from flat surfaces to polygonal and curved / circular (open and closed) heat transfer structures, depending on the shape of the connecting body that requires cooling or heat supply.
The assembly of the plate / fin segments into a desired heat exchange device can be realized in various ways: mechanically, for example via a click system provided in the base plate, by brazing, welding, laser, gluing, etc.
The heat transfer capacity of a device according to the invention is preferably controllable, in particular stepwise controllable, preferably with the provision of a pulse function for greatly increased heat exchange.
In a first preferred embodiment thereof, a fan is provided with either a blower that causes active convection by forcibly sucking air or another gaseous medium or blowing under pressure through the metal foam structure.
The high-performance heat exchange is preferably adjustable by measuring the temperature difference between the top and base of the T-fin / slat, where suitable sensors are fitted, and the suction power of the fan can be adjusted as a function of this delta-T, eg via a suitable PID controller.
In a highest stage of intensive heat exchange, in which a highly accelerated cooling of a heat-generating contact surface / base plate can be realized, a further embodiment of the invention provides for the atomization of a liquid (water, alcohol and dgl.) In the actively circulating gaseous cooling medium (in particular air). In a desirable form of realization for this purpose, bores are provided in the horizontal part of the T, which are directed towards the upper or contacting foam structure, and wherein the cooling intensity of gas medium / foam structure is greatly increased by phase transformation, i.e. via rapid evaporation of atomized liquid ( pulse or boost function).
De poreuze driedimensionale metaalstructuur kan uit eender welk thermisch goed geleidend metaal bestaan zoals koper, aluminium, inox, zilver, zink, verzinkt staal, enz.The porous three-dimensional metal structure can consist of any thermally conductive metal such as copper, aluminum, stainless steel, silver, zinc, galvanized steel, etc.
Bij voorkeur wordt het lichtmetaal aluminium gebruikt. The light metal aluminum is preferably used.
De Al-schuimstructuur is opencellig en de porositeit is minstens 80%, bij voorkeur minstens 90% en in het bijzonder meer dan 95%.The Al foam structure is open cell and the porosity is at least 80%, preferably at least 90% and in particular more than 95%.
Figuur 2 een verdere ontwikkeling toont van een warmtewisselaar volgens de uitvinding. iThe invention will be explained below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a cross-section of a heat exchange element according to the invention. Figure 2 shows a further development of a heat exchanger according to the invention. i
Figure 1 shows as an example a plate module with cross-shaped cooling fins.
The base plate 1 of a given length, which can be linear or curved, has cooling fins 2 of a cross-shaped profile on the upper side, the horizontal T-legs (3,3 ') of which form a bearing surface for the metal foam elements 5, which are each between the vertical upper parts 4 of adjacent cooling fins are provided.
Figure 2 shows an arrangement of a heat exchange device according to the invention with controllable intensity of heat transfer. A temperature sensor 6 is provided on the basis of an upright slat 2, at the level of base plate 1. A second temp. sensor 7 is located at the top of the slat profile where the metal foam connects in contact. A system of ventilation (not shown) makes it possible, via the channel-shaped zones 8 between base plate, cooling fins and metal foam, to achieve an adjustable air flow through the porous metal mass 5. The delta-T or temperature difference between base and tip of the cooling fin, including the evolution of delta-T over time, is monitored as a measure of cooling intensity and cooling efficiency of the device according to the invention.
A further development of a device embodiment according to the invention provides for a supply of cooling liquid such as water into the metal foam network, where rapid evaporation (due to the very high specific exchange surface of metal foam) gives rise to an additional boost in cooling intensity. The supply of cooling medium can take place via bores 9 in the cooling fin sections, with finely divided outlet openings 10 directed towards the porous metal foam coating 5.
If desired, a component can be added to the liquid which also causes a pleasant odor to spread during evaporation.
Subsequent basic tests performed with a metal foam cooler according to the invention illustrate the improved cooling and effectiveness possibilities compared to conventional cooling systems.
Condities:Conditions:
40 mm fins and Al-metal foam, with cooling surface of 80 mm x 200 mm.
Load: 1 liter water op 100 °C Luchtstroom: 0 (passief), 351/min en 901/minLoad: 1 liter of water at 100 ° C Airflow: 0 (passive), 351 / min and 901 / min
The test results in table form are shown in Figure 3. From this it can be concluded that: - The addition of Al foam to the structure of the cooler leads to a 15% faster cooling in passive operation (no air flow). The increase in temperature (delta T) of the cooling surface decreases by 18%. - The active operation with limited air flow of 351 / min through the Al metal foam with an area of 80 mm x 200 mm leads to an even 15% faster cooling in comparison with the passive Al foam structure without air circulation.
The increase in temperature (delta T) of the cooling surface decreases by another 35%. - Increasing the air flow rate even further does not result in an additional reduction in the temperature of the cooling surface, but also in an additional 10% faster cooling due to less rapid heating of the cooling element.
It is known that the processing of open metal foam with high volume porosity is not easy; in particular cutting to size and its precision often leave something to be desired. In addition to the application of specialized cutting, wire sawing and party techniques, and thermal "laser", there is also the possibility of cryogenic machining. In particular very open metal foam such as aluminum schmm with high volume porosity can easily be milled, cut or mechanically processed after absorption / absorption of water (immersion) and freezing to a solid mass.
The modular heat exchange elements according to the invention can be used in many ways and can be assembled in various ways into a heat exchange device of the desired shape and size. For this it is possible to provide the base plate 1 with adapted grooves and lips and / or with a click system. Adapted metallurgical joining techniques may be appropriate for the realization / assembly of curved and curved heat exchange surfaces.
Uit het voorafgaande moge blijken dat de uitvinding niet beperkt is tot de hier weergegeven en beschreven uitvoeringsvorm, maar dat binnen het kader van de hiernavolgende conclusies en groot aantal varianten mogelijk zijn, die voor de vakman op dit gebied voor de hand zullen liggen en tot het wezen van de uitvinding blijven behoren. iIt will be apparent from the foregoing that the invention is not limited to the embodiment shown and described here, but that within the scope of the following claims and a large number of variants are possible which will be obvious to those skilled in the art and to the invention. essences of the invention. i
