EMI1.1
FABRICAGEPROCEDE VAN EEN HOOFDKUSSEN UIT EEN SYNTHETISCH MATERIAAL EN HET ALDUS VERKREGEN HOOFDKSEN.
EMI1.2
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

EMI1.1
MANUFACTURE PROCESS OF A PILLOW FROM A SYNTHETIC MATERIAL AND THE HEADPIECES SO OBTAINED.
EMI1.2
The invention relates to a manufacturing process of an orthopedic pillow, configured to support the head and neck, from an elastically deformable and flexible material, as well as a pillow obtained according to this process.
Pillows of this type, from polyurethane, are already known, obtained by molding or cutting from a block. The main drawback of these known pillows is that polyurethane is not a completely satisfactory material. It has been found that other materials in the form of more suitable foam for making pillows are difficult to mold or cut, making the manufacture of pillows based on these materials relatively expensive.
The present invention aims to propose a manufacturing process of a pillow that is easy to use and which is partly based on the use of a more suitable material and a pillow with an extremely low cost price.
In order to achieve this goal, the process according to the invention is characterized in that from a sheet of flexible foam, which is advantageously micro-porous and has a predetermined thickness and hardness, a first piece is cut which forms the enveloping part of the pillow, of favorable, clearly rectangular shape, from which two opposite edges are cut obliquely in such a way that at each level in the top surface a slope is obtained which forms an acute angle with the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
bottom face of the piece, and a second piece forming the intermediate piece of the pillow, intersecting the central zone therein and intersecting an edge therein, favorably according to the angle of the oblique cut-out of the first piece,
place the second piece on one half of the first and secure in a position where the bevel of the second piece is an extension of the bevel of the first piece, the top sides of the second piece, and the beveled edges of the first piece with glue, and the second half of the first piece folds onto the second piece so that the chamfered edges of the first piece come into contact with each other by applying pressure ensuring adhesion of the pieces in this position .
According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the second piece is made from two pieces, an piece in the form of an open C at the front edge of the first piece and a piece that forms the part of the front side of the second piece located between the ends of the C.
According to a particularly favorable feature of the invention, said constituent parts of the pillow are cut into a sheet of latex.
The pillow according to the invention is of the type configured such that the cervical vertebrae are supported and are in line with the spine, of a flexible and elastically deformable material, and characterized in that it comprises a covering part in flexible foam, advantageously microporous, of a predetermined thickness and clearly uniform and of a generally rectangular shape, the two opposite edges of which are cut at an angle so that the slope is at an acute angle
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
with the bottom face, which is at least one second piece of foam of predetermined thickness and uniformly laid on one half of the first piece,
whose edge adjacent to the corresponding chamfered edge of the first piece is also chamfered to extend the slope of the chamfered side of the latter, that the central zone of the second piece is cut out and that the second half of the first piece is folded over on the second piece so that the chamfered sides of the two halves of the first piece rest on each other and the pieces are put together in this folded position.
According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the second piece has the shape of a C, open towards the front edge of the pillow, the ends of which are chamfered and a third piece is placed between the ends of the legs of the C of which the longitudinal edge adjacent to the front edge of the pillow is chamfered to extend the slope of the edge of the first piece.
The invention will be better understood and other objects, features, details and advantages thereof will become more apparent in the explanatory description which will follow and is given with reference to the only figure which, by way of example, is a schematic embodiment of the invention will illustrate.
figure 1 is a perspective view of an orthopedic pillow according to the present invention; figure 2 is a cross-sectional view along line 11-11 of the figure; - figure 3 is a perspective view, disassembled,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
showing the constituent pieces of the pillow of Figure 1;
EMI4.1
- figure 4 shows an intermediate step of the manufacturing process of the pillow according to figure 1, and - figure 5 is a sectional view along line V-V of figure 4.
With reference to Figure 1, it is noted that a pillow according to the invention, in the example shown, is composed of three separate pieces 1, 2,3 shown in Figure 3 and assembled in the manner shown in Figures 4 and 5 .
Pieces 1 to 3 are cut from a sheet of latex or another micro-porous and flexible foam. This sheet has a predetermined thickness and density, which will be chosen depending on the hardness one wishes to give to the pillow. In addition to its flexibility, the foam has good ventilation properties.
As shown in the figures, piece 1, which forms the wrapping portion of the pillow, has a general rectangular shape. The two edges 5 and 6, which later form the front edge 7 of the pillow, are cut obliquely over a predetermined width. The edges thus have a slope which forms an acute angle with the bottom surface of piece 1, indicated by a. The second piece has the general shape of a C. The ends of the legs 8 are also cut obliquely over a predetermined width such that that they have the slopes indicated in 9 which form an angle with the lower side of piece 2 which is clearly identical to angle a. This shape is obtained by cutting an inlet 13 out of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
from the chamfered side.
The third piece 3 has the general shape of a bar that will be placed between the ends of the legs 8 of piece 2, as shown in figure 4. The outer longitudinal side is also cut obliquely according to angle a of the slanted sides of pieces 1 and 2. The inclined edge thus obtained carries reference 11. This piece could be cut from the piece cut in piece 2.
It should be noted that pieces 1 and 2 are cut from the base piece and chamfered by a manual foam saw or band saw or any other suitable means.
As is clear from Figures 4 and 5, piece 2 is placed on one half of piece 1, such that the chamfered edges 5 and 9 are in line.
Piece 3 is then placed on piece 1 between the ends of legs 8 of piece 2 in C-shape. The beveled front face 11 is also an extension of the beveled edge 5. The existence of a cavity 12 bounded by pieces 1 to 3 is noted.
After positioning pieces 2 and 3 on the first half of piece 1, the top surfaces of pieces 2 and 3 and the chamfered parts of piece 1 are coated with a special foam contact adhesive, as known. Then, the second half of piece 1 is folded in the direction of arrow F of figure 5 on the top surfaces of pieces 2 and 3 such that the chamfered edges 5 and 6 of the two halves of piece 1 are in contact with each other, as shown by figures 1 and 2. By pushing hard on the chamfered parts and the middle of the whole, an assembly of the pieces in their position as shown in the figures is ensured. Of course, pieces 2 and 3 in Figure 1 are also confirmed in advance by applying at least some glue points.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
In the figures it is noted that the chamfered edges 5,6, 8 and 11 have curved shapes to take into account the physique of the user. Of course, you can give any desired outline to these edges.
From the description just given, it appears that the pillow according to the invention is very easy to manufacture from a sheet of foam. The cost of the pillow is therefore very low. As an example, the latex sheet can have a thickness of 3.3 cm. The dimensions of piece 1 can be 90 x 62. The width of piece 2 will accordingly be 32 cm.
The width of the chamfered surfaces can be 7 cm.
Of course, the process according to the invention makes it possible to manufacture pillows in all desired dimensions in a simple and inexpensive manner, from a material which is particularly suitable for this application. Indeed, latex is washable, non-allergic, does not collect dust and will not decompose.
The pillow according to the invention is perfectly conceived to avoid cervical vertebral pain by allowing the head to be supported on the high and low sides and right and left, with the head resting in the hollow located in the center of the pillow is located.
