<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

This invention relates to a carrier for a series of capsules that have yet to be filled and that can be stored in this carrier.
Capsules of the type referred to herein are usually known under the name "capsules" and consist of two parts, one of which is filled and the other serves as "lid". The first can therefore be considered as male and the other as female element.
To fill these capsules, a device is used that includes three perforated plates. Above the bottom two plates, use is made of a third plate, which itself has a hinged lid, in which the female elements of the capsules are enclosed.
The capsules are pushed in their entirety through the top plate with bores. Due to the relative movement of the bottom plate with respect to the middle plate, the male parts of the capsules are clamped.
The female parts of the capsules that remain clamped in the top plate as they have a larger diameter are removed from their male counterparts by removing the top plate. The powder thus released (this is the middle one) is coated with the powder in the male parts.
All these parts are known and belong to devices that have been in use for a long time.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
It has already been proposed to collect the capsules with their male and female elements in a thin cardboard plate, which offers the advantage that the capsules no longer have to be introduced one by one into the device. The intention is to let this take place in a movement. The disadvantage of the proposed solution is the rigidity of the material used, t. w. cardboard or similar material. Problems arise with the capsules lying somewhat off-center to the bores from the above-mentioned top plate.
The capsules contained in the cardboard plate are very difficult to adapt to the bores of this plate. The cardboard does not allow translation of the capsules relative to the cardboard plate and a slight but necessary inclination of the capsules is possible, but the capsules slightly tilted from their axis can then only be inserted into the bores of the top plate with the greatest of difficulty. to get.
To solve this problem, an adapter is used which is placed on the top plate. The rigid (usually cardboard) carrier with the capsules is placed on this adapter. The function of this adapter (usually a plate with holes) is to create a space between the carrier of the capsules and the top plate. This space is necessary since the capsules, which are pushed out of the carrier, can now be translated and possibly inclined before they fall into the top plate.
The object of the invention is now to propose a capsule carrier which solves the above-mentioned problems, so that the capsules can easily be inserted into the respective bores of the top plate and thus also of the two plates below
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
while removing the "lids" or feminine elements and putting them back in can be done very smoothly.
In order to make this possible according to the invention, the carrier according to the invention consists of at least one layer of material which allows translation of the capsules among themselves, as well as an inclination with respect to their longitudinal axis and ensures that the capsules are permanently clamped.
According to the invention, the above-mentioned material is a soft cellular foam.
Other details and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a carrier for a series of capsules according to the invention. This description is given by way of example only and does not limit the invention. The reference numbers refer to the attached figures.
Figure 1 is a cross-section through a capsule carrier consisting of a cardboard plate, opposite the essential elements of a capsule filling device.
Figure 2 is an analogous cross-section in which the cardboard support consists of a soft cellular foam.
The support represented by Figure 1 belongs to what can be considered the prior art. The carrier here is formed by a cardboard plate 1 in which the capsules 2 with their "lid" 3 are contained. By "lid" is meant the female element of the capsule. The male element, 4, is the portion to be filled after all capsules have been pressed into plates 5,6 and 7. The latter parts do not belong in any way
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
case to the invention and are parts from known devices which also belong to the prior art. Reference 8 refers to a hinged plate with which the capsules can be pushed through the bores 5 ', 6' and 7 'belonging to the plates 5, 6 and 7 just mentioned.
Also, with this hinged plate, the female parts of the capsules are held in place in the top plate after removal of the latter from the two bottom plates.
It should be emphasized once again that these parts of a known device are mentioned to illustrate the problems that arise when capsules 2 are placed in a cardboard plate 1 or a plate consisting of a rigid and little flexible or stretchable material.
As shown in Figure 1, it is possible to get an idea of the problems that arise when the elongated capsules are slightly inclined and still need to be forced through the successive bores of the plates 5,6 and 7 with difficulty.
To overcome these drawbacks, it has now been proposed to use as a support a material consisting of a soft cellular foam. Such a carrier 9 is shown in Figure 2. The elongated capsules 2 shown in this Figure 2 are in the same arbitrary position as those shown in Figure 1. However, it has now been determined that by using a material such as a soft cellular foam as the carrier, this material allows translation of one capsule relative to another. Also the inclination these capsules occupy is no objection here because the material of which the carrier 9 consists, by the possibility of stretching it in width and length, pushes through
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the openings 5 ', 6' and 7 'of the plates 5,6 and 7 do not present any difficulties.
By pressing on this soft cellular foam material, for example by means of the hinged plate 8, the capsules automatically take up their correct position with respect to these openings.
It is also of particular importance to note that the "lids" 3 or female elements of the capsules remain well clamped due to the elasticity of the soft cellular foam material making up the carrier 9. The replacement of the female elements 3 on the meanwhile filled and leveled male elements 4 can therefore take place without difficulty.
A final advantage of the carrier according to the invention is the fact that the filled capsules with their lids 3 placed thereon can remain contained in the carrier 9 and that the whole can be traded as such.
Bringing the capsules back together with their rigid carrier is very difficult, making it almost impossible to trade the capsules in their carrier.
The invention is not necessarily limited to the above-described embodiment, and changes could be made to it without departing from the scope of the patent application.
