EMI1.3
Het polyol-en
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
Ueze
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>
<Desc/Clms Page number 15>

This invention relates to toe insulation devices in particular for floors containing a bottom layer in thermally insulating material, as well as its method of application.
This invention can be applied to the field
EMI1.1
from the teflatin of fn mrUWe floors in residential buildings, in office buildings as well as in buildings intended for communal use such as schools, hotels or hospitals and to obtain excellent insulation.
EMI1.2
Are heat insulation materials previously known? The application of it as thermal insulation is described in the Belgian patent no. d99 547.
The rigid polyurethane foam is obtained from a mixture of polyol and polyisocyanate which reacts exothermically. A swelling agent, catalysts and stabilizers are added to the reaction mixture.
This rigid polyurethane foam is processed in the following manner to provide a thermal flock insulation layer.
EMI1.3
The polyol
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
polyisocyanate mixture is sprayed directly onto the rough floor to obtain an even surface without connection joints and with the desired thickness. The hard foam is formed by the reaction within seconds with an intermediate phase of viscous consistency with the reaction mixture adhering strongly to all floor materials such as stone, metal, concrete or synthetic and chemical products.
The insulating layer thus formed has the following properties. It has a high heat resistance with an order of 0.021 W / mK, a structure with mainly closed cells (q5t), so that the water absorption is very limited, ie approximately 1% of its own weight. Moreover, it has a very low specific weight and the weight / insulation ratio is among the most favorable of all common building materials. The use of this insulation layer offers the following advantages. The application of a coating to smooth the floor, for example when the electrical or sanitary pipes are laid on the grounds, is not required. In addition, the abolition of the cover layer saves a considerable amount of height. rca 3 to 4 cm.
On the other hand, there is no connection or joint, so that there is no risk of thermal bridge; The hard polyurethane foam layer has sufficient rigidity and can very well tolerate a covering or finishing layer.
In addition, all waste and surplus losses from traditional materials are avoided by using this homogeneous layer.
Although the rigid polyurethane foam has excellent thermal insulating properties, its sound insulation is not satisfactory for a very low foam thickness. Indeed, the floors provided with this very thin insulating layer are not resistant to shock

<1 b t pqrniR. nchormd, such as the present invention concerns an insulating device with thermal and acoustic efficiency which surprisingly satisfies the requirements for sound insulation of the Belgian standard NBN-S01-400 while the floor thickness remains limited.
The solution offered by this invention consists of an insulating device comprising a bottom layer of thermally insulating material, characterized in that it comprises an intermediate layer of sound insulation material as well as a top layer for supporting the finishing layer.
This device makes it possible to obtain impeccable sound insulation while the heat insulation is maintained with a very low additional height from the floor. In addition, all joints and connection points that exist in traditional establishments have been removed so that the cold and sound bridges are avoided.
More specifically, in the device according to the invention the insulation device consists of a bottom layer in hard polyurethane foam, while the layer in sound insulation material is an intermediate layer or vice versa.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the insulation device consists of a bottom layer in rigid polyurethane foam, an intermediate layer in

sound insulation material and a top layer consisting of a plastic foil.
According to another preferred embodiment of the invention, the insulating device consists of a bottom layer and a top layer in hard foam and an intermediate layer in sound insulation material.
According to yet another embodiment of the invention, the bottom layer is a sound insulation layer in sound insulation materials and an intermediate thermal layer.

insulation layer in hard polyurethane foam.
The invention also relates directly to the use of a selected insulating device, the best of which is: - the spraying on the full surface of a polyol and polyisocyanate mixture, which reacts to form the thermal insulation layer of cured polyurethane foam - the application of the intermediate layer for sound insulation in sound insulation material in the reactive mixture in the liquid state of the hard polyurethane foam, and - spraying over the intermediate layer of a polyols polyisocyanate mixture which reacts to form the top layer in hard polyurethane foam, which is intended for the thermal insulation and as a support surface for the finishing coat.
The invention also relates to a process for applying the chosen insulation device and which consists of: - spraying on the floor surface a polyol and polyisocyanate mixture, which reacts to form the bottom heat insulation layer in rigid polyurethane foam - applying the intermediate layer for sound insulation in sound insulation material in the reacting mixture in liquid state, of the hard polyurethane foam, and - the spraying over the intermediate layer of a polyols polyisocyanate mixture which reacts to form the top layer in hard polyurethane foam, which is intended for the heat- insulation and as a supporting surface for the finishing layer.
The invention also has a process for installing the isolation device, which consists of.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
- gluing to the dust-free surface of the ground a soundproofing underlay in soundproofing material], and - spraying onto this underlay a polyols polyisicyanate mixture which reacts to form the heat-insulating intermediate layer in rigid polyurethane foam, which is intended for thermal insulation and as a supporting surface for the finishing layer.
The invention will be better understood and other objects, features and details of this invention will become more apparent upon reading the description below and in connection with the attached schematic drawings which are given by way of example only without limitation in order to illustrate three modes of implementation. in which: - figure 1 is a view of the insulation device according to an embodiment of the invention in cross section and - figure 2 shows a view of the insulation device according to another embodiment of the invention which is now preferred also in cross section - figure 3 in a view of the ecu insulation device according to yet another embodiment, also in cross section.
As can be seen in figure 1, the device consists of three layers. A first layer 1 is applied directly to the rough floor or the surface 2 of a support plate 3 consisting of, for example, stone, metal, concrete or synthetic or chemical materials, which cover the sanitary or electrical lines 4 which are laid on the floor. This bottom layer 1 consists of rigid polyurethane foam of the desired thickness (a) in order to achieve perfect heat insulation of the device.
The second Jaag 5 is made of sound-absorbing material. They become hard without adhesion on top of layer 1
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
polyurethane foam applied and goes to the top of the wall 6. This layer may consist of polyufthane tech or a mat of fiberglass.
Finally, a third layer 7 comes to cover the second layer or intermediate layer in order to hold it up on the one hand and on the other hand to support the finishing layer 8 or covering layer which is applied above the insulating device of the floor. The third third or top layer consists of a plastic foil.
The acoustic properties of the isolation device according to this first embodiment will be further described.
The above-described device is applied in a relatively simple manner according to the following stages.
During a first phase, the polyol and polyisocyanate mixture is sprayed onto the surface 2 of a support surface 3 to form the bottom layer 1 in rigid polyurethane foam. During a second phase and when the bottom layer is hardened in, the intermediate layer 5 is applied without any adhesives above this bottom hose 1 and goes up along the doors 6 to the level of the floor plate 13 at the bottom of the skirting board 12. Before installing this skirting board 12, it must be removed from the top coat 8 and from the floor plates 13 are insulated by means of a neoprene strip that is placed along the wall. In this way, the transmission of the vibrations along the wall 6 is avoided. The intermediate layer 5 consists of a ready-to-use material such as a polyethylene foam mat or a glass fiber mat.
Then, during a third phase and in order to keep the intermediate layer 5 on hands, the top layer 7, which consists of a plastic foil, is also applied above the intermediate layer 5. Moreover, the layer 7 serves as a support surface for the finishing layer 8. In fact, this exists
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
prfssdR and more specifically as regards the last two phases, from a simple stack of materlals that form stratified layers.
As shown in Figure 2, the device according to the preferred embodiment of the invention consists of the following three layers.
A first layer 9 is applied directly to the ground or the surface 2 of a supporting surface 3 and covers the sanitary or electrical lines 4. In the present case, this bottom layer 9 consists of hard polyurethane layer with honor. desired thickness (b) that is less than the thickness (a) of the device described above.
The second layer or intermediate layer 10 for the sound insulation consists of a sound insulation material such as a foam in bonded polyurethane.
The bonded polyurethane foam is obtained from flakes derived from soft foam cutting waste. A chemical is added to these ground flakes and they are compressed to obtain an agglomerate of moss flakes. In fact, the chemicals used to bond the foam flakes are also raw materials for forming the soft foam. The final bonded product obtained in this way is very homogeneous and has a chemical composition similar to the rigid polyurethane foam. In addition, the bonded polyurethane foam has a high resistance to penetration, is deformable and is resistant to aging.
The intermediate layer 10 is applied above the bottom layer 9 in rigid polyurethane foam and rises along the wall 6.
The third layer or top layer 11 is applied above the intermediate layer 10 without the risk of tearing or tearing it away. Like the bottom layer 9, it consists of a hard polyurethane foam and has a thickness
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
process and in particular as regards the two late phases, from a simple stack of materials that are atratified; layers.
As shown in Figure 2, the device according to the preferred embodiment of the invention consists of the three folding layers.
A first layer 9 is applied directly to the ground or the surface 2 of a supporting surface 3 and covers the sanitary or electrical lines 4. In the present case, this bottom layer 9 consists of rigid polyurethane foam with a desired thickness (b) that is smaller than the thickness (a) of the device described above.
The second layer or intermediate layer 10 for the sound insulation consists of a sound insulation material such as a foam in bonded polyurethane.
The bonded polyurethane foam is obtained from flakes from soft foam cutting waste.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
(c) equal to the difference between the thickness's (a) & (b).
In this way, the assembly consisting of the bottom layer and the top layer in rigid polyurethane foam has a thickness equal to the bottom layer as described in the first embodiment of the invention according to Figure 1.
The layers 9 and 11 aim to realize the thermal insulation of the device according to the invention. The layer 11 also has a support function for the finishing layer 8 or top coat.
Such a device, consisting of layers 9, 10 and 11, in fact forms a monolithic and homogeneous whole by, among other things, the identical chemical composition of each polyurethane-based layer.
Under these conditions, such a device can realize a floating floor that forms an insulating tub. The floating floor consists of the subfloor that covers the pipes and is covered by the layers of hard polyurethane foam and an intermediate layer of bonded polyurethane foam.
On the other hand, the floor is raised in a very limited way, so that no problem arises when the skirting boards 12 are placed along the walls 6 above the floor.
The sound insulation properties measured in the device used in this selected preferred embodiment of the invention are highly unexpected. They will also be described below.
The method of using the devices according to the preferred embodiment of the invention is as follows.
A mixture of two components: a polyol and a polyiaocyanate (a 4, 4'-ring of diphenylmethane diisocyanate) in ratio 1: 1, is directly
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
sprayed onto the rough soil 3 on a leqe and clean surface 2 by means of a sprayer for sprayed flowable hair mixture. A swelling agent such as, for example, monofluoromethane trichloride is added to the mixture. Under the influence of the heat generated by the reaction of the two components, this swelling agent effects the transition from the liquid mixture to the state of a foam. After a very short time, ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes, the foam changes to a solid state.
Catalysts such as tertiary amines are also added to the mixture to adjust the reaction. Stabilizers are used to cause the formation of the foam cells and allow to obtain a very Legal foam. In addition, polyols containing halogen particles are added to the mixture so that the rigid polyurethane foams thus obtained meet international fire safety standards. During the formation of the foam, the mixture changes to an intermediate state with viscous consistency. In this phase, the product adheres very strongly to any kind of material on which it is sprayed for subsequent hardening. The resulting foam has a closed-cell structure to achieve good thermal insulation.
Depending on the desired foam thickness, spraying is carried out with one or more layers sprayed on top of each other.
The intermediate layer 10 for the sound insulation in bonded polyurethane foam, i.e. in pressed polyurethane flakes, is applied above the first layer 9 during its formation, i.e. when the mixture is still in a liquid state. In this way the a. Adhesion between the two layers is excellent and the application event immediately, The bonded foam is applied so that the ends 10a of the intermediate layer
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
cook up along wall 6. to the height of (1st floor plate 13 and bottom of the plinth plate 12.
Before installing the plinth plate 12, it must be removed from the final layer 8. One of the floor plates 13 are insulated by means of a neoprene strip which is placed along the wall 6 to replace the transmission phenomena.
Neither does this intermediate layer 10 have joints or connection points.
Finally, a top layer 11 in hard polyurethane foam is applied by spraying on a mixture as described above in the case of the first layer 9. When this layer 11 forms in the polyurethane foam, it does not tear or tear off the intermediate layer @ in bonded polyurethane foam. This last layer 11, together with the bottom layer 9, serves to thermally insulate the device and also serves as a supporting surface for the finishing layer 8 or top layer.
When the first laaq 11 is well cured, its surface is smoothed by means of a kind of grinding machine.
The finishing layer 8 or top layer may then be placed above the top layer 11 without coming into contact with the wall 6. Afterwards, a floor covering 14 is placed above the floor assembly.
This method is fast, practical and avoids all the problems associated with gluing and compaction, which can be avoided when installing the classic devices.
As shown in Figure 3, the device consists of two? Jigen. A first layer 16 consisting of a sound insulation material is applied directly to the rough ground or the surface 2 of the floor slab 3. In this case, the ground surface must be perfectly dust-free. The sound insulation material covers the entire surface 2 including the pipes 4.
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
This first layer goes up along wall 6.
The second layer 17 consists of rigid polyurethane foam with a desired thickness d equal to the thickness a of the device shown in figure 1.
Finally, a deck or finish layer 8 is applied above the insulating device of the floor.
The above-described device is applied in a relatively simple manner according to the phases mentioned below.
During a first phase, the first layer 16 or bottom layer in sound insulation material is glued directly to the cleaned surface 2 of the soil.
The adhesive is applied beforehand and is protected by a silicone paper.
This layer is applied directly to the ground to cover its entire surface 2 as well as the pipes 4. The ends 16a of this layer go up along wall 6 to the height of the floor plate 13.
Before installing the plinth plate 12, it must be insulated from the finishing layer 8 and from the floor plate 13 by means of a neoprene strip 15 which is placed along the wall.
During a second phase, a polyol-polyisocyanate mixture is sprayed onto the substrate 16. This mixture reacts to form an intermediate layer 17 for the thermal insulation in rigid polyurethane foam, which is intended for the thermal insulation and for supporting the finishing layer 8.
The finishing layer 8 or top layer may moreover be applied above the layer J7 without coming into contact with the wall 6. Then a floor covering such as tiles 13 is applied above the whole of the floor.
The device arranged in this way is homogeneous according to the invention and avoids all risks of damage or noise.
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
A studio was performed to compare the different sound characteristics of the isolation device.
The tested devices are the following: - A. Device according to the current state of the art and consisting of a layer in rigid polyurethane foam with a thickness of 30 mm - B. Device according to the current state of the art and consisting of a layer in hard polyurethane foam with a thickness of 60 mm - C. Device according to the invention and consisting of a bottom layer in hard polyurethane foam and an intermediate layer in polyethylene foam - D. Device according to the invention and consisting of a bottom layer in hard polyurethane foam and an intermediate layer in glass fibers - E. Device according to the invention and consisting of a bottom layer in hard polyurethane foam and an intermediate layer in bonded polyurethane foam and a top layer in hard polyurethane foam.
On each of these devices, the frequency, the attenuation (ETA) and the dynamic stiffness K (10.6 N / m3) were measured. The dynamic stiffness allows the behavior of the elastic layers va. i qualitatively assess the interior in the case of floating floors.
In order to obtain a good elasticity of the material, the mechanical stiffness must be low.
On the other hand, each establishment was classified in one of the groups of the Belgian standard NHN-SOt-400. Ueze
<Desc / Clms Page number 14>
standard meets very stringent requirements in terms of the gluidtisolatte. according to the standard NBN-SO1-400, a certain insulation class depends on the dynamic stiffness K and on the damping. The different classes: 1a, Ib, Ila, Ilb, TIIa and IIIb are indicated in Table 1. The class with the best insulation is class I.
The type of class required depends on the arrangement of the rooms and on their mutual location.
This is illustrated in Tables 2, 3, 4 and 5 for the residential buildings, the office buildings, the school buildings and the hospitals or hotels, respectively.
For example, in a residential building, a laundry room on a floor above a bedroom should have a floor with insulation that is at least equivalent to class Ib and preferably class Ia.
Likewise, a music room located above a course room in a school building must have a floor equipped with an insulation device i9 according to class Ib and preferably class la.
The results of the tests are indicated in Table 6 for reference.
@@ devices A and B, according to the existing state of the art, have moderate acoustic characteristics and belong to classes IIIb and lilac.
On the contrary, the acoustic characteristics of the device according to the invention are apparently improved. Indeed, with a fairly equivalent thickness, the devices C, D and E have a frequency, a dynamic stiffness and a damping higher than that of the device B. In addition, they meet the criteria of the insulation class IIa and Ia and confer so on the floor a very good insulation against shock sounds.
In the end, and surprisingly, the
<Desc / Clms Page number 15>
device E, which corresponds to the preferred embodiment of the invention, has excellent sound properties.
Indeed, the dynamic stiffness of the device E is approximately 6 times less than that of the device B.
This device E itself deviates from the standard NBN-SO1-400 due to excess. It has a dynamic stiffness K of less than 8. 10 6 N / m3 and a damping of less than 0.3, which means that its acoustic properties are better than those of class Ia.
In this way, the device according to the invention and unexpectedly achieves the combination of the thermal and acoustic insulation, while the floor thickness remains limited and all the disadvantages associated with the cold and sound bridges are eliminated while all the advantages of the use of the hard polyurethane foam retained as heat 1Holaternalateral.
