<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1

"Closing cover for beer kegs and other applications".
The present invention refers to a cover serving as a guarantee closure which can be used to close and seal large beer kegs (00-50 liters) and for other uses requiring a simple, quick application, closing and a guarantee against any alteration.
Basically, this cover model includes a disc-shaped structure and a substantially cylindrical outer edge which can be used to be tightly fitted all around the edge of the neck to be closed. Inside this cylindrical or substantially cylindrical edge, three projecting teeth are arranged with a sawtooth section to facilitate application and prevent the removal of the cover unless it is destroyed. The disc-shaped element has a tab delimited by incisions between the edge and the central area. This incision extends directly to the boundary edge at one end only. The arrangement is such that when the tab is compressed, it detaches from the surrounding part and constitutes the part intended to tear off the outer edge at the location of the long incision.
This opens the cover, which can be removed when it is slightly bent.
The hooking teeth on the outer edge of the cover to be closed are specially rounded at the two ends of the tile so that the cover can be applied more easily. There are three teeth, one near the rounded end of the leg and the other two equidistant from it and one from the other.
The tab extends a certain distance from the opposite edge to allow it to be easily pushed inward and separated without hampering anything inside the keg of the keg to be closed.

Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description below, given by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the appended drawings, in which:
Figures I and 2 show respectively the closure cover seen from the inside and a diametrical section made along lines III-III of Figure i.
Figure 3 is similar to Figure 2 but shows the separate tab.
Figure 4 shows a view in the direction
EMI2.1
of the arrow (IV) of Figure 3, illustrating the cover after the break and removal of the tab.
As can be seen in the figures, the cover is formed of a disc-shaped structure (1) with a possible substantially wider part (1 A) and an outer edge (3) projecting from the disc (1). The outer edge (3) has three teeth (5, 7 and 9), which are located on. the inner part of the latter and which are in the shape of a sawtooth, as indicated in FIG. 2, to allow easier adaptation on the neck of the container to be closed, which is specially shaped externally to grip the teeth (5, 7 and 9).
When the closing cover is made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin, it can be adapted by preheating and a slight softening of the fabric material so that the edge (3) expands momentarily and the teeth (5, 7 and 9 ) can pass over the projection around the edge of the cell to which the cover is to be applied. When the material cools, the teeth (5) fit well under the edge of the coil, and the only way to remove the cover and open the keg is to completely demolish the cover.
The disc-shaped part (i) contains a tab (10) surrounded by partial incisions (12) separated by weakening links, which can be easily broken to separate the tab (10) from the disc (1). The tab extends from an area (3X) of the outer edge (3) to a position just before tooth 5, which is on the opposite side of the area 3X. The end portion of the tab (10A)
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1
is curved and delimited by a bending line (lOX). When the IOA area is compressed, the tab folds along the IOX line, which facilitates the breaking of the line 12 just against the edge (3X). This area (3X) has a thin part (14) along the line towards the edge (12).
This thin section (14) follows tooth 9, which is symmetrical to tooth 7 compared to the tab (10-IOA).
The ends of the teeth (5, 7 and 9) are substantially rounded, as clearly shown in the figures, to prevent the cover from deforming and to make its application easier.
For their application, the individual covers are heated and, when the temperature is high enough to temporarily expand the material, they can be adapted and the teeth (5 - 7 and 9) hang along the edge of the neck when the cover cools. When the closure cover has to be removed, it is enough to compress the IOA area (see the arrow fiO in Figure 2) to fold the IOX line down, break the line 12 around 10A and fold it towards the inside. Once the OA has been folded, a finger can be inserted into the notch to remove the tab (direction opposite to arrow 10) until it breaks at 14. The edge (3) can then be torn off and the cover removed, as shown in Figure 4.
In this way, the closure is not broken.
It should be understood that the present invention is in no way limited to the above embodiments and that many modifications can be made thereto without departing from the scope of this patent.
