<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
EMI4.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Tires with incorporated chamber for vehicles".
The present invention relates to a tire with an incorporated chamber or "tubeless" tire for vehicles, according to the preamble of claim i.
These tires for vehicles are provided with a single or double internal layer, which is not very permeable to gases, when they are used as tires for passenger cars, and with an intermediate layer based on a rubbery mixture of carcass and a internal layer not very permeable to gases, when used as truck tires, the rubber mixture consisting of a crosslinkable elastomer whose gas impermeability is relatively high Known rubber mixtures suitable for such an internal layer butyl rubber or halogenated butyl rubber.
The typical permeability coefficient for nitrogen according to DIN 53 536 is for 100% halogenated butyl rubber of approximately - 17 m2 1.1x10 #
Such an internal layer must guarantee that the pressurized air is present and remains permanently in the vehicle tire at the required pressure value and at the required volume. However, a minimal amount of air always diffuses when considering a long period.
The disadvantages of known butyl rubber are its difficult adaptation to machining, its relatively high raw material costs and the danger of damage to adhesion, when residues of the butyl rubber mixture contaminate in machining machines what I are called adhesion rubber mixtures. Another important drawback of butyl rubber is its lack of ability to crosslink by an irradiation process, because butyl rubber then decomposes or tends to decompose.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the invention is to improve a tire with an incorporated chamber for vehicles with a view to obtaining a rubber mixture suitable for the inner layer.
According to the article "Spezial kautschuke auf Basis von 1, 2- und 3, 4-Polydienen" by K. H. Nordsiek in the review "Kautschuk +
Gummi Kunststoffe, 35th year, vol. 12/82, pages 1032 to 1038, in particular pages 1036/1037, which relates to the diffusion property of an elastic barrier layer, polyisoprene is cited, according to FIG. 16, as being slightly breathable with high addition of patterns 3, 4 (1, 2).
Furthermore, integral rubber mixtures are known according to DE-A-33 10 118 which relate to polyisoprenes, which are obtained by polymerization of dienes 1, 2 and 3, 4, and which relate to isoprene / styrene copolymers, which are obtained by Polymerization of dienes 1, 2 and 3, 4 and random copolymerization of styrene, to use these mixtures for gas tightness, for example as an internal layer of a tire with incorporated chamber.
A rubber mixture of this kind is disadvantageous in that the gas permeability increases much more strongly at higher temperatures, for example when the tire heats up during putting into service, than is the case for usual butyl rubber mixtures, typical. Unfavorable gas permeability at higher temperatures is harmful to tires and should therefore be avoided.
The object of the invention is to provide for the inner layer of the tire a rubber mixture with high impermeability to gases, which, on the one hand, is well machinable and of favorable cost and not harmful in the event of possible contamination with other elements. of the mixture and for which, on the other hand, the gas permeability at higher temperatures increases less strongly and does not manifest itself in a manner harmful to the tires, and which is vulcanizable by an irradiation process without showing damage due to a decomposition.
To solve these problems, it is proposed according to the invention that the inner layer of a tire with an incorporated chamber
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
for vehicle consists of a rubbery mixture which presents up to 100 parts of a synthetic polyisoprene having a high fraction of more than 60% in structure 3, 4, as well as 10 to 80 parts of a reinforcing filler and 10 to 50 parts of a plasticizing agent.
In addition, common anti-aging agents and process aids such as adhesive resins are used. The rubber mixture is crosslinkable and / or prereticuiabie by electron irradiation.
The gas permeability of a rubber mixture of this kind containing potyisoprene 3, 4 is as good as that of mixtures of 100% halogenated butyl rubber used for internal layers of tires with incorporated chamber of vehicles.
The advantages of the rubber mixture according to the invention compared with known mixtures of internal layers are, on the one hand, good usability and the possibility, without other measures, of crosslinking and / or pre-crosslinking by electron beams . On the other hand, by using the rubber mixture according to the invention as an inner layer, the tires with incorporated chamber for trucks can be constructed without an intermediate layer between the carcass and the inner layer or with a relatively thin intermediate layer. The proposed rubber mix exerts less
EMI3.1
of influence, with regard to a decrease in. the adhesion of gum on steel wires, than that known from butyl rubber mixtures.
The latter is also the reason why truck tires are equipped with an intermediate layer based on an adhesion mixture, which is for example intended for the gumming of carcass. The rubber compound containing polyisoprene 3, 4 is comparably as good to machine as a natural rubber and therefore it is much less problematic from the point of view of the process technique.
The use of the new rubber mixture further reduces costs, because the raw material costs are more favorable than comparable butyl materials for the inner layer and because the thickness of the inner layer can
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
EMI4.1
be used using the new thin rubber mix.
On the other hand, contaminations of so-called adhesive gum mixtures, in particular those used for the gumming of the carcass and of the reinforcement belt, by residues from treatment of the new mixture rubbery containing poiyisoprene 3, 4 are completely harmless, a fusion being moreover harmless. The damage of the adhesion is essentially insignificant or respectively negligible to a negligible point. The reprocessing of a bandage, which consists of an inner layer and an intermediate layer, as is provided on carcasses of trucks, is without problem, because in such a bandage its layers must not be separated l 'one of the other, since the contact between the materials of the layers is harmless.
The new rubber mixture containing high fraction synthetic polyisoprene in structure 3,4 offers the property that the gas permeability at higher temperatures, such as those appearing during the putting into service of the tire, increases at a low level and is to this extent comparable to butyl mixtures, the disadvantages of which are however avoided.
A considerable advantage of the new rubber mixture is that it can be crosslinked or respectively prereticuie by irradiation. The new rubber mixture does not decompose under the action of electron beams, as is the case with the butyl mixture, nor does it tend to decompose.
The electron irradiation process, see for this B. Slade, Elastomerics, 117 (11) 34, 1985, is used to increase the rigidity of semi-finished products and thus to improve the processability. Butyl mixtures react to irradiation by reducing the viscosity according to Mooney, while the viscosity of the rubber mixture according to the invention increases during treatment with electron beams.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The rubber mixture containing synthetic polyisoprene with a high fraction in structure 3, 4 can also be crosslinked by the use of known peroxides or systems based on sulfur-accelerator.
