EMI1.2
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1
- in welke-tandstrook striphefboom.

Ventilation device for installation in a frame.
The invention relates to a ventilation device for placing in an elongated opening, for instance of a frame, and
EMI1.1
consisting of a longitudinally extending slidable strip which cooperates with a fixed profile such that the position of the slidable strip relative to the lifting prong of the slidable otrip relative to the standing profile has a passage for air and this passage in the other position of the sliding strip, which sliding strip is closed
EMI1.2
---- is coupled with a control mechanism.
Such ventilation devices or ventilation slides are generally known. In these known ventilation devices, the stationary wall and the sliding strip co-operating therewith are provided with a series of openings at regular distances from each other, which openings can be registered with each other by displacing the strip or may be closed in that the openings are covered by those portions of the sliding strip located between the
EMI1.3
openings of that rip. ripis coupled-with and --- operating mechanism with which the strip can be moved back and forth. To prevent leakage, the strip should lie close to the wall.
This means that there is a large friction surface between the strip and the wall of the stationary profile, which is also exposed to contamination and oxidation. A drawback of the known ventilation device is therefore that the displaceability of the strip becomes difficult, if not impossible, over time. causing the ventilation device to become out of order.
An additional drawback of the known ventilation device is that in the open position there is a direct passage between inside and outside, which can give rise to unpleasant noises and drafts when the wind blows on the facade.
A further additional drawback is that openings must be made in the wall of the stationary profile and in the strip with the correct dimensions, the correct mutual distance and burr-free, which entails quite a lot of processing.
The object of the invention is now to provide a ventilation device which does not have the above-mentioned drawbacks.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the fixed profile is a continuous profile with an essentially vertical closed wall, which covers a part of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
vertical distance between the top and bottom boundaries of the device, and the sliding strip consists of an equally dense plate-shaped part, which lies close to the wall of the fixed profile,
EMI2.1
ticaalten B'pztctfte and d is equal to or greater than the height of the clearance between the edge of the solid wall of the fixed profile and the boundary opposite. The wall of the fixed profile no longer has any openings.
It is therefore possible to use a profile sawn to length and, for example, obtained by means of xtrusion. Also-the strip needs-

- - - Not to be apertured. The contact surface between the wall of the stationary profile and the sliding strip has, however, length-of-the-opening in the frame, but a height which is small, so that the total contact surface is small. in comparison the contact surface between strip and wall with a strip of equal length in the known ventilation device.
Moreover, according to the invention, it is preferable that the slidable strip consists of a profile with a transverse flange on one edge with an outwardly open groove with a sealing strip and, at a distance therefrom, a profile edge with an acute angle whose opening faces the said flange which profile edge can cooperate with an opposite inwardly facing sharp edge of the wall of the stationary profile, which sharp edges interlock in the closed position of the strip.
The inwardly turned sharp edge, which cooperates with the complementary designed sharp edge on the inside of the stationary wall, ensures that in the closed position the strip and wall are drawn sealingly against each other, but also that when opened already after a movement of less than a millimeter the strip is released from the wall, which considerably reduces the friction contact.
The sliding strip, which cooperates with a wall of a stationary profile, can be arranged on one side of the ventilation device, while the other side is then provided in a known manner with, for example, a rain-rejecting grid. It is also possible, however, that the device is provided at a distance from the aforementioned sliding strip with a second sliding strip, which cooperates in a corresponding manner with a closed stationary wall of the device.
In this case, the ventilation device is thus provided with two sliding strips or slides. The passage openings can thereby be staggered, so that a direct flow of air is avoided. The airflow should follow a zigzag path.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In order to obtain a simple operation, according to the invention it is possible for the sliding strip to be provided in one or more places with a tooth strip with the teeth parallel to the plane of the
EMI3.1
- in which tooth strip stripping lever. These dental strip or strips can be narrow dental strips, for instance made of plastic, which are fixed in the profile of the sliding strip or on the strip. However, the tooth strip can also be obtained by extruding the strip in its entirety with a toothed profile.
If both slidable strips are provided with tooth strips, where two each work together with a gear wheel, it is possible with
EMI3.2
an operating mechanism. v & t & chttirfbae strips open bar. to close.
According to the invention, all profiles can be extrusion profiles, which are enclosed with the ends between profiled end faces with grooves for receiving the ends of the profiles and with bearings for supporting the operating means, in particular of the shaft with gears. These end caps can be made of plastic
EMI3.3
manufactured screws, which engage longitudinal channels of the profiles.
Ventilation devices of the type according to the invention are contaminated by dust and insects. Cleaning is necessary from time to time, but they are not accessible and it is therefore necessary to disassemble the entire ventilation device for cleaning purposes.
The invention provides a solution here in that at least one of the stationary wall profiles can be detachable. This detachable wall profile may have a rim that can snap to a groove profile portion of a bottom or top profile that defines the venting device. It is then sufficient to pop the stationary wall cooperating with the respective slidable strip out of the groove, after which the interior becomes accessible, for instance for the suction mouth of a vacuum cleaner.
The invention will now be further elucidated with reference to the drawings.
