Description

PATENTS ACT 1990
COMPLETE
SPECIFICATION
STANDARD PATENT X-BAND 2000 The following statement is a full description of the invention, including the best method of performing it known to me.
X-BAND 2000 The invention relates to improvement in devices for trouser and jeans waist band fits of all fabrics and styles.
For many people the lack of fit in trouser waists can cause great discomfort, having to regularly adjust the trousers after performing natural duties and movements.
There have been many proposals for waist tensioning systems. For example, belts of various materials, non adjustable elastics incorporated in waistbands, velcro and fasteners of various descriptions, including buttons and latches.
These tensioning systems have the disadvantage that they do not move with the natural movements and duties a human body performs, as well as providing the ability for manual tensioning. For example, the process from standing to sitting or bending as well as consumption of food causes the distribution of the waist to move, therefor giving the feeling of discomfort and minor irritations in certain positions, ultimately having to manually readjust the waistband to achieve original comfort.
These problems are overcome by the present device, which provides a waist tensioning device comprising a resilient strap with a stopper at each end, inserted into two fasteners adjacent to each other, each of the fasteners being adapted with a base incorporated a rivet hole and rivets to be inserted and engaged into waistband, where in each of the fasteners, comprise a releasable latch on latch mounts with serrated teeth underneath on the base, the said releasable latch working in conjunction with the base to grip the strap there between, allowing not only the ability to manually adjust the waistband, but also to automatically adjust to movements and expansions the human waist experiences, as well as providing easier access for tucking in shirts and other clothing of like and being able to wear the trouser at numerous positions on the waist.
In another form the fastener may comprise of a releasable latch with serrated teeth underneath and a base with a pair ofjaws resiliently based towards each other, such that the jaws may grip the waistband. Such jaws may include serrations to assist with gripping.
The resilient strap may be made of rubber or elasticised cloth. The fasteners may be made of any suitable material, such as metal or moulded plastic.
To assist with understanding the invention, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings which show one example of the invention.
FIGURE 1: Shows one example of a X-band 2000 device according to this invention.
Referring to Figure 1 it can be seen that the X-band 2000 device according to this invention comprises an elongated resilient strap comprised of an elasticised cloth strap having stoppers and at each end thereof. The strap is inserted through the latch gaps and respectively into fastener assembly and The end fastener assembly comprises essentially a rectangular base with a rivet hole in the middle with serrations (10) substantially transverse to the direction of elongation's of the rectangular base and at the other end larger serrations substantially transverse to the direction of elongation of the rectangular base with projections comprising stalk portions (11) and (12).
A latch (13) is pivotally mounted to the projections (11) and (12) on the rectangular base When the strap is inserted in latch gap(4), the extra thickness of the strap causes an interference fit with the large serrations (14) and pivotal latch (13) allowing releasable retention of strap a similar end fastener assembly is provided at the other end of the resilient strap FIGURE 2: Shows the X-band 2000 in operation. It can be seen that a trouser waistband (20) has a X-band 2000 inserted into it at portion (21) within the waistband held with rivets and to the adjacent side at portion (22).
By the use of one or more X-band 2000 devices of the type, the trouser waistband can be adjusted according to onevaist with an elastic movement)achieving a firm and comfortable fit.
It will be realised that the X-band 2000 device according to this invention is not restricted to be held in place by rivets as shown in the example, but may use jaws or any other suitable arrangement to clamp to the waistband.

Claims (6)

  1. 2. The waistband tensioning device of claim when used as a waistband with an article of clothing, allows resilient strap to be loosened and tightened using the fasteners, to different waist measurements.
  2. 3. The waistband tensioning device of claim and where each said base comprises a pair of jaws placed at opposite ends there of, one said jaw working in conjunction with the serrated teeth on the latch, grips the strap there-between in at least a first position of said latch.
  3. 4. The waistband tensioning device of claim wherein the jaws include serrations to assist gripping waistband. The waistband tensioning device of claim (1I) wherein the resilient strap is made ofelasticised cloth.
  4. 6. 'The waistband tensioning device of claim wherein the resilient strap is made of rubber.
  5. 7. The waistband tensioning device of claim where the base of the fastener which is inserted into the clothing waistband, is not restricted to being held in place by rivets only, but may use jaws to clamp to the clothing or the use of other suitable arrangements such as stitching, screws and engagement items of like.
  6. 8. The waistband-tensioning device substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawing. SAM KUPINIC 10 DECEMBER 2000
