Abstract

Heteroarylethylamines of the formula (I) <IMAGE> in which R<1> represents OH, acyloxy or alkoxy, R<2> represents hydrogen or alkyl, R<3> represents hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclyl, R<2> and R<3> together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bound can represent a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic radical, R<4> represents hydrogen, alkyl, halogen, haloalkyl, hydroxyl, cyano, alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, mono- or dialkylaminocarbonyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, haloalkylthio, NHSO2-alkyl, R<5> represents hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxy or the radical -NR<7>R<8>, R<6> represents the radicals given under R<4>, and their physiologically acceptable salts and their N-oxides are used as performance-enhancing agents in animals. The compounds of the formula I are used in animal breeding and animal feeding.
