At present when these street signs are vandalised they are bent out of shape so much that they no longer serve their purpose e.g. bent in opposite direction.
When a vandal jumps up and grabs hold of the street sign combined with his body weight it is a simple lever action that bends the street sign out of shape The invention"Sign guard"seeks to overcome or at least reduce this disadvantage by the fitting of the" Sign guard" on the top edge of the street sign. When a vandal jumps up to grab and secure a hold on the top leading edge of the street sign so,he can bend/or pull it out off shape,he will not be able to obtain a grip, due to the fitting of the "Sign gLard The Sign guard is a section of metal shaped so it fits snugly along the top edge of a street sign It has a saw tooth section, on the top edge of the unit The vandal cannot obtain a grip on this area as it would be too painful to apply any type of force to it. By not being able to apply any destructive force the street sign is saved from vandalism PAGE. 3 SIGN GUARD DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION Fig 1 three dimensional drawing of SiGN GUARD and SIGN GUARDS spefications Fig 2 SIGN GUARD affixed to street sign in working position, Referring now to Fig 1 The SIGN GUARD is made up of a section of aluminium and or plastic ,330mm in length (size in length can vary according to application) The base section is rectangular in shape 25mm by 8.20mm with a 9,50mm centra groove which gives access to the cavity so that it can slide along the top edge of an luminium street sign. On top of this rectangular hollow channe section a vertical saw tooth edge section rises from the base channel at 90 degrees in height, The SIGN GUARD would be affixed to the (street) street sign by gently tapping one end of the channel to close the channel slightly thus making t a tight fit on the (street) sign then tapping it to the required position
