SPECIFICATION
TITLE OF THE INVENTION LINE GUIDE FOR FISHING ROD BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a uid guide which is of a type to be niounrted on a surface of a fishing rod body, arid miore particularly to a line guide fer a fishing rod irt which a concave shallow space is proli1.ded by performing a soca1-ld drawing work at least to a supr<gportion or a frame as- a whole.
There are providea, x, axious types of line guides for f ish ing rods. in order to attain' the reduction in weight, the frame ir subjected to a drawing work. Trhe reason for this i-o LhaL the 1 mechanical strength is enhanced by drawing the frame and a thickness of the material can be decreased correspondiny t~o thc increased mechanical s-trength.
However. wheri..the frame is drawn a concave shallow space is 2formed on a back side, and dust or sea water is stored in thespace to cause:corrosion. Also, an aesthetic appearance would be worse.
SUH*fARY OF THE INVENTION in view of the defect inherent in the prior art, an object. of .25 the present invention irs to provide a line guide for a fishing rod, which may prevent the storage of dust or sea water anid enhance the aesthetic design.
In order to attain this and other, objects, in the line guide for a fishing rod accordiikg to the present invention, a frame as a whole for holding a guide rin g or at least a support leg portion ii 1.
V is drawn to form a concave shallow space, and a filling made of synthetic resin is provided at least in the space of the support leg portion to thereby fill the space without any gap.
Thus, the storage of dust or sea water can be prevented and aesthetic appearance can be improved.
Therefore, -it is possible to increase thickness thereof by embedding auxiliary member prepared in advance inside the filling and also to adopt a filling formed in advance in a shape to the space, thus the working time to fill in the space may be shortened.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED
SMBODIMENTS
A line guide for a fishing rod according to an embodiment of the present invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
1 0 Figs. 1 and 2 show a line guide 1 in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention.
The line guide 1 is composed of a frame 3, a mounting foot and a guide ring 7.
The frame 3 is composed of a planar main portion 3a having an outer configuration substantially in an oblong shape (track shape) and a circumferential wall 3b having a low height and extending along an entire circumferential edge except for one end portion in a longitudinal direction of this main portion 3a. The main portion 3a is curved slightly toward the opposite side to the side of the circumferential wall 3b of the main portion 3a (hereinafter referred to as a "back side'). Accordingly, there is a shallow space 9 in the back side of the frame 3 (hereinafter referred to as a "back space").
A ring mounting hole 3c in the form of an oblong shape which is slightly smaller than the outer- edge of the main portion 3a is Sformed on the main portion 3a.
A portion on one end side of the ring mounting hole 3c of the frame 3 forms a support foot portion 11.
The mounting foot 5 is substantially in the form of a tongue.
An end opposite the sharpened end of the mounting foot 5 is continuous with an end of the support leg portion 11.
The mounting foot 5 and the frame 3 are continuous with each at an opening angle of about 140'. Accordingly, the frame 3 ,takes a posture-slanted at about 40" relative to a surface of the mounting foot The thus-formed frame 3 and mounting foot 5 are formed Sintegrally with each other by pressing a metal plate of stainless steel or a titanium.
The guide ring 7 is made of hard material such as ceramic or Scermet. The guide ring 7 has an oblong shape similar to an outer lconfiguration of the frame 3. A flange 7a is formed substantially over half an overall circumference at one side in direction of the hole of the outer circumferential surface.
SThe thus-formed guide ring 7 is fitted with adhesive in the 20ring mounting hole 3c of the frame 3. Namely, the guide ring 7 is fitted in the ring mounting hole 3c in such a direction that the S' flange 7a is in contact :with an opening edge portion of the ring i mounting hole 3c from the back side and is fixed to the frame 3 by adhesives thereto.
Accordingly, a part of the guide ring 7 is only slightly projected to the opposite side from the frame 3 so that almost all the part thereof is received in the back space of the frame 3. The guide ring 7 is substantially in close contact with the circumferential wall 3b except for the support leg portion 11.
When the guide ring 7 is thus mounted in place, only the portion 9a corresponding to the support leg portion 11 of the back space 9 oE the frame 3 is left forming a space.
The partial space 9a is fully filled with filling 13. If the filling 13 is made of so-called reactive cure type liquified synthetic resin which is cured by heat or ultraviolet rays, any S type of a filling may be used as the filling 13.
In order to impart the filling 13 to the partial space 9a, for example, if the liquified filling is introduced into the partial space 9a under the condition that the frame 3 is turned over, the filling 13 is retained and stored by the: circumferential wall 3b and the guide ring 7. Accordingly, there is no necessity to use a special jig and it is easy to automatically assemble the -Is guide.
The filling 13 which is colorless and transparent may be used 8 but it is preferable to impart any color to the filling 13. In this case, the filling 13 may be colored in advance or may be dyed after curing depending upon a kind of the synthetic resin to be used.
For the line guide :1 according to the embodiment, transparent epoxy resin or ultraviolet ray cure type resin was used as the Sfilling 13 and dyed after it was cured.
I The line guide 1 is constructed as described above.
Accordingly, since the back space 9 of the frame 3 is substantially filled with the filling 13 and the guide ring 7, its aesthetic appearance is much superior.
The line guide 1 is mounted on a fishing rod body 15 by winding with known fastening strings around the mounting foot 5 so 1 r I na surface of the fishing rod that the mounting foot 5 is seated .on a surface of the fishing body 15. The transparent epoxy resin or urethane resin is applied to the wound portion.
In fishing, the line 17 drawn from the reel is caused to pass through the hole of the guide ring 7.
Then, when-the line 17 which has been released from the rod is retrieved, the line 17 travels with a strong friction with the inner circumferential surface of the guide ring 7. At this time, the dust or sea water adhered to the line 17 are scraped and dropped along the guide ring 7. In this case, since the back space .9 of the frame 3 is substantialry filled with the guide ring 7 and the filling 13, the dust or sea water that has been scraped by the guide ring 7 is caused to only flow along the surface of the guide ring 7 or the filling 13 and there is no fear that the dust or sea water would be stagnant on the back side of the frame 3. This may prevent the frame 3 from being corroded.
Incidentally, if the filling 13 is cured, the surface thereof is concave so that its central portion is slightly lowered.
However, such a concave will not cause any problem.
Fig- 3 shows a line guide 1A in accordance with a second The difference of the line guide 1A from the abovedescribed line guide 1 is only the structure of the filling.
Accordingly, the explanation thereof will be given only to the above-described difference, and the same reference numerals are to indicate the like components or members of the line guide 1. The duplicated explanation thereof will be omitted. Such use of the reference numerals and their indication are the same as in a third embodiment to be described later.
Reference numeral 19 denotes an auxiliary member embedded in the filling 13. If the auxiliary member 19 is made of synthetic resin, any type of synthetic resin may be used. For example, it is preferable to use material that is superior in adhesion like ABS resin.
SA strip of auxiliary member 19 which is somewhat smaller than the partial space 9a in size is used, and the liquified filling is 1 0 applied thereto after the auxiliary member 19 is set in the partial space 9a.
Accordingly, if such an auxiliary member 19 is used, it is possible to save the filling material to considerably decrease the amount of the liquified filling and to enhance the working efficiency.
i Incidentally, if the auxiliary member 19 is tentatively S: retained by a both-sided adhesive tape or an instant adhesive I, 20 before the liquified filling is applied, it is possible to further enhance the working efficiency.
.I Figs. 4 and 5 shows a ling guide 1B in accordance with a third embodiment.
The difference of the line guide 1B from the above-described line guide 1 is that the filling is of an engagement type.
Reference numeral 21 denotes an engagement type filling. The K filling 21 has such a size that it may be fit in the above- 30 described partial space 9a.
When the filling 21 is mounted in the partial space 9a, after the filling 21 is received in the partial space 9a, the portion i 9 Vi~

1 s R a r i rr r r corresponding to the support leg portion 11 out of the circumferential wall 3b is somewhat press fitted inwardly and is mechanically tentatively held- Subsequently, it is preferable that a small amount of liquified adhesive is applied to completely fill in the gap along the circumference.
In the case where such type of a filling is used as the filling, at least the work to adhere the guide ring 7 to the frame 3 and the work to adhere the filling 21 to the support leg portion 111 may be simultaneously performed. Accordingly, it is possible to suppress the increase of the number of the working steps.
Incidentally, in addition-to the above-described tentative retaining means it is possible to use what is shown in Fig- 6 or 7 15 Sas the tentatively retaining means for tentatively retaining the filling 21.
In the means shown in Fig. 6, a cutaway 21a is formed in the filling 21 in advance, after the filling 21 is received in the 20 artial space 9a, an edge portion of the circumferential wall 3b is bent so as to embrace the cutaway 21a of the circumferential wall 3b to thereby perform the tentative retention.
Also, in the means shown in Fig- 7, a tentative retaining 25 hole 23 is formed in a portion corresponding to the partial space 9a in the frame 3, a projection 25 is integrally formed on the filling 21, and the projection 25 is pressingly inserted into the tentative retaining hole 23 to perform the tentative retention.
n addition, it is possible to use a both-sided adhesive tape or an instant adhesive as the tentative retention for the filling 21.
