0 Page 1 of 2 Disabled Persons Wheelchair Transfer Sliding Board Technical Field of invention: This invention provides an easier way for physically handicapped people to safely transfer from a wheelchair to a bed or seat and vice versa.
People who cannot stand must be lifted from wheelchair to bed or seat thus impairing their independence. Previously only a timber plank has been offered to these people, which is difficult and dangerous to use.

*0 0 0 Statement of The invention takes the form of a strong plastic platform of a specially the essential evolved "boomerang" shape (ref diagram A appended) to bridge the gap features of the between a bed or chair and a wheelchair, having a shaped cutout to allow invention: the wheel of the wheelchair to enter into the to help prevent unwanted movement of the platform during transfer and having a flexible slippery plastic cover over the cutout and thus the wheel) to prevent the users clothing from dragging on the rubber of the tyre.
How the device The device is positioned with the short end of the plastic platform (item 6 is used: 15 diagram A appended) on the seat of the wheelchair and the long end (item 6 diagram A) on the bed seat into which it is desired to transfer. The'V' shaped cutout (item 4 Diagram A) is positioned around the wheel of the wheelchair with the slippery plastic cover (item 2 diagram A) over the tyre.
The user then places his/her hands on the plastic platform to raise his/her weight and shuffles his/her buttocks across the gap between wheelchair and bed.
Please refer to diagram B for an illustration of the positioning of the device when in use.

*e 6 66 i Appended Drawings: The claims defining the invention are as follows: A platform of strong plastic to help physically handicapped people to transfer from a wheelchair to a bed or seat by its specially evolved "boomerang" shape a shaped cutout to allow the wheel of the wheelchair to enter to discourage slipping of the platform during transfer and a slippery flexible cover over the cutout to prevent the users clothing from dragging on the rubber of the tyre.

The features of the device are: "Boomerang" shaped strong plastic platform (detail 1 diag A) Slippery plastic wheel cover (detail 2 diag A) shaped cutout (detail 4 diag A) 35 Diagram illustrates how the invention is used to bridge the gap between the users wheelchair and a bed (or seat).
