Abstract

A loading and unloading apparatus 1 for transporting reels 20, 21, 22 to and from a point-of-use, comprising a turntable 31 rotatable in the horizontal plane and located remote from the point-of-use, and means extending between the turntable and point-of-use and arranged to transfer reels to and from the point-of-use from and to the turntable 31, wherein the reel transfer means comprises support rails 40, 41 and/or wheels or rollers, with each reel 20, 21, 22 being movable therealong in the direction of its rotational axis.
