Address of Applicant: Cartagena 203, E-08013 Barcelona, Spain Actual Inventor: RAMyON JANE CABAGNERO Address for Service: CALLIbTANS Patent Attorneys, of 48-50 Bridge Road, Richmond, State of Victoria, Australia.
Complete Specification for the invention entitled: "A DEVICE FOR THE ATTACHMIENT OF CARRYCOTS TO CHILDREN'S PUSHCHAIRS" The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me- *Note: The description Is to be typed in double spacing, pica type face, In an area not exceeding 250 mm in depth and 160 mm in width, on tough white paper of good quality and it is to be inserted inside this form.
I la This invention relates to a device for the attachment of carrycots to children's pushchairs.
There are different types of carrycots and different means or devices for the attachment thereof to children's pushchairs, nevertheless the present device has been devised for the attachment of a particular type of carrycot which is designed for safety when carrying babies in automobiles, which carrycot is attached to a base receptacle fixed to the automobile and for which attachment said carrycot is provided with respective rear-end side projections, said attachment being guaranteed by a retaining member provided in the receptacle.
The device allows the attachment of this type of carrycot to children's pushchairs which comprise a frame for mounting a seat, such that said carrycot is attached to said frame instead of the seat. The attachment is demountable to allow removal of the carrycot when the baby grows and to be j able then to dispose a seat appropriate to the baby's age in the frame. These S frames are pivotably mounted to the pushchair chassis for tilting the seat.
S. The device for attaching carrycots may be applied to the children's S pushchair disclosed in Spanish Patent of Invention Application 8702424, nevertheless it may also be applied to all kinds of children's pushchairs comprising a seat support frame, such as for example the children's pushchairs disclosed in Spanish utility models 229.237 and 288.119.
According to the present invention there is provided a device for the attachment of carrycots to children's pushchairs, said carrycot having respective rear lateral projections and lower and upper edges and said pushchair being provided with a frame to which a seat can be attached, said device including three supports attached to the frame, two lateral supports attached to a rear portion thereof forming respective generally horizontal hooks to receive the lateral projections of the carrycot, and a third front support being attached to the centre portion of a rail of the frame, on which third support the lower edge of the carrycot is rested, the latter being held at its upper edge by way of a hook pivotably mounted to said third support. i The three supports are preferably attached to the pushchair frame by .I -2screws allowing them to be subsequently removed to facilitate with their withdrawal the attachment of said seat in the frame.
These and other features will become evident from the following detailed description which, to facilitate the understanding thereof, is accompanied by a sheet of drawings illustrating one practical embodiment given only as a non-limitative example of the scope of the present invention.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective drawing of the constituent members of the device, separated from the pushchair frame, and Figure 2 is a side elevation view of said frame with the device mounted and retaining the carrycot.
The device of the invention comprises three supports 1, 2 and 3.
The two former have the same constitution and are formed by respective integral items of plastics material forming a generally horizontal hook 4 at the 1 top and having a channel shaped lateral recess 5 in the base with which said supports are attached snugly to the rear portion of the side rails 6 and 7 of a rectangular frame 8 which is attached intermediate the ends thereof to rotatably omounted side members 9 corresponding to the pushchair chassis.
The supports 1 and 2 are provided in the channel shaped recess thereof with a pair of orifices 10 for the passage of screws 11 which will be fixed in respect- Tne third support 3 is formed at the top thereof witn a snoulder 13 and is provided at the bottom with an angular recess 14 for attachment on the centre portion of the front rail 15 of the frame 8 to which it .s attached oy two screws 17 which pass tnrough respective orifices (not shown) of tne support 3 and respective orifices 18 provided in tne front rail 15 of the frame, wnicn screws receive on the ends thereof respective nuts 19.
To the third support 3 there is pivotably mounted Sa nooK 20 oy way or an intermediate memoer 21 acting as control for locKing the nook in its active position.
The carrycot C is attacned to tne frame 8 of the pushchair by inserting tne two lateral projections S S thereof, with outer head in the nooks 4 of the supports 1 and 2 and resting tne lower front edge B on the shoulder 13 of tne support 3. Tnis attachment is fixed by the nook 20 of tne support 3, wnich hooks over the upper edge B' of tne carrycot and is tensioned downwardly and locked in this position by rotating tne control member 21 downwardly.
It will be understood tnat when said control memoer 21 is lifted upwardly, the tension of tne nook will be slackened, allowing the carrycot C to be removed.
SWhen the carrycot is no longer used, since the child has grown too much, tnen the screws 11 and 17 are removed to demount tne supports 1, 2 and 3 from tne frame 8, which will be free to receive any type of seat for the cnild, eitner of the flexible type formed by pivotably connected rigid plates or any other type.
The invention, within its essence, may be embodied in otner forms differing only in detail from the one descrioed above solely as an example, to which the protectionoeing claimed will also extend. This device for i" _PS 4 the attachment of carrycots to children's pushchairs may, therefore, be manufactured with the most appropriate means and materials and with the most desirable accessories, it oeing possible to replace the component parts uy other technically equivalent parts, since all is comprised witnin the scope of the followiny claims.
