Abstract

A movable horizon-to-horizon dish aerial has the dish (2) secured to a rotary sleeve (10, 12) pivotable about an axis (14). Extending along the axis of the sleeve is a cranked lever (22, 24, 26) having one of its ends carrying a jack (34) extending between it and the aerial, and the other operated on by a jack (38) extending between the lever and a relatively-fixed point. The jacks (34, 38) are driven in opposite senses, in unison or sequence, so that the angular movements of the dish are an additive combination of the movements brought about by each jack. The jacks may be mechanical and/or hydraulic, having an effective length which is adjustable over the range needed to ensure that the dish can swing through an arc extending from one horizon to the opposite one. The aerial itself is also pivotable on a fixed support about an axis extending perpendicularly to the main axis of movement, so that the plane of movement of the aerial is itself at an adjustable angle to the horizon.
