Description
ORIGINAL COPY COMPLETE SPECIFICATION STANDARD PATENT NOZZLE ADAPTER LINE The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me.
1.
NOZZLE ADAPTER LINE This invention relates to new or improvements in devices for extending or adding to tubes, pipes or similar carriers of media.
Generally, tee's and other adapters are added to pipes to facilitate and allow additions and extensions to pipes and tubes. Negative aspects of adding tee's and other adapters are a) cost and volume of material involved, b) a supply of different size tee's and adapters for different sized pipes and tubes is required, c) restriction in pipe and tube selection, as size is compromised to tee and adapter sizes available, d) tube and pipe must be cut if additional tee's and adapters are required, e) modifications have to be made to existing lines adding to "down time" and f) tube and pipe must be cylindrical.
:i These and other problems are overcome by the present invention, which provides a tube pipe extender (nozzle adapter) comprising a resilient body piece, at one end an enlarged foot or retainer, and at the other end the head or host.
In one form of the invention, the head or host utilizes a fastener such as a cable tie or spring clamp to firmly retain the nozzle or an extension.
In another form of the invention, the head or host has an integral thread which firmly retains the nozzle or other extension. The thread may be made of any rigid material, such as metal or plastic.
The body of the nozzle adapter may be made of a resilient material such as rubber or similar compound.
To assist with understanding the invention, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings which show one example of the invention.
In the drawings; FIG. 1. Shows one example of the nozzle adapter according to this invention; FIG. 2. Shows the application of such a nozzle adapter device on a tube pipe or similar media carrier.
Referring to FIG. 1. it can be seen that the nozzle adapter comprises the foot or anchor 1, the body 2, a hole 3 allowing for media flow and escape and an internal thread 4.
FIG. 2. shows the nozzle adapter device in operation. It can be seen that the tube pipe 1. of any shape or material can house the nozzle adapter. 2. is a pre drilled, cut or fabricated hole in the tube pipe. 3. is the nozzle adapter housed in the tube pipe.
nozzle or an extension with thread 6 engages the nozzle adapter at internal thread 4 completing a secure and leak free seal. Now any media being passed through the tube pipe 1 can be redirected through the nozzle adapter.
It will be realized that the nozzle adapter device according to this invention is not restricted to the form of an internal thread as shown in the example, but may use a smooth internal wall where an attachment such as a nozzle or an extension can be forced into the nozzle adapter and sealed, adhesive or a tie clamp can also be used as shown at 7.

Claims (7)
1. A nozzle adapter comprising, the body made of a resilient material, the head or host housing an internal thread made of metal or plastic is inserted through a wall of a tube, pipe or similar media carrier, when the media passes through the nozzle adapter a leak free seal is achieved.
2. the nozzle adapter device of claim 1 wherein the head or host comprise a smooth internal wall where a nozzle or other attachment is forced into the nozzle adapter for a leak free seal.
3. the nozzle adapter device of claim 1 and 2 wherein the head or host comprise a smooth internal bore where a nozzle or other attachment is forced into the nozzle adapter and secured further by adhesive, tie, clamp or similar device for a leak free seal.
4. the nozzle adapter device of any one of claims 1 to 3 where the resilient body is made of rubber or another material.
5. the nozzle adapter device of claim 1 to 4 where an external thread is used at head of nozzle adapter.
6. combining the nozzle adapter in any way as described in claims 1 to 5 to a pipe, tube or similar carrier of media becomes an integral part of this invention.
7. a nozzle adapter device substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings. DARRYL OREC 23 AUGUST 1999 **oO° *o*
