Abstract

The heat exchanger according to the invention, in particular for cooling towers, contains at least one heat exchanger body (23) having a multiplicity of pipes (1), through which flow can take place in parallel and which end in two opposing planes (4, 4'), and having intermediate chambers (5) through which flow can take place in the cross-flow thereto. In the dry mode, the water flowing in the intermediate chambers (5) is cooled by air which flows through the pipes (1). The heat exchanger is equipped for the wet mode with a water introduction system which can be turned on and off and with which the water can be introduced in drops into the air current flowing through the pipes (1). <IMAGE>
