Brief Description of the Drawings Embodiments of the present invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of a storage kit for storing sheets of material according to an embodiment of the present invention; and Figure 2 is an exploded perspective view of a storage kit for storing sheets of material according to another embodiment of the present invention.
9 Detailed Description of Embodiments Referring firstly to Figure 1, a storage kit for storing sheets of material is shown. The storage kit 10 comprises a primary storage article 11 for storing sheets of material. The storage kit 10 also comprises first and second additional storage articles 12 and 13 respectively, which are also for storing sheets of material. As can be seen from Figure i, the first and second additional storage articles 12, 13 are sized to be storable within the primary storage article 11.
Furthermore, the second additional storage article 13 is sized to be storable within the first additional storage article 12.
Notably, the primary storage article 11 may be able to store sheets of material whilst also storing the additional storage articles 12, 13. Similarly, the first additional storage article 12 may be able to store sheets of material whilst also storing the second additional storage article 13. This "nesting" function of the storage kit 10 enables compact storage and organisation of documents. In particular, it allows sub-classes of documents to be organised and stored separately within a class of documents for example by storing the sub-class of documents in the second storage article 13 which is stored within the first storage article 12 which also stores the class of documents.
Further advantages of the storage kit 10 are that it allows for multiple storage articles to be compactly transported, warehoused and displayed for sale by storing the additional storage articles 12, 13 within the primary storage article 11.
Although the storage kit 10 is shown having two additional storage articles (to the primary storage article) it may have only one additional storage article or more than two additional storage articles. The number of additional storage articles in the storage kit 10 is 10 not limited to any particular number. Each further additional storage article may or may not be sized to be storable within the previous additional storage article.
In one embodiment of the invention not shown in the drawings, the storage kit 10 comprises a third additional storage article for storing sheets of material.
The third additional storage article is also sized to be storable within the primary storage article 11. The third additional storage article may be sized to be storable within the first additional storage article 12, and further may be sized to be storable within the second additional storage article 13. However, in other embodiments the third additional storage article may be approximately the same size as the first or second additional storage articles.
The primary storage article 11 comprises a base and four side walls 21 defining a primary storage space. Sheets of material and the additional storage articles 12, 13 may be stored in the primary storage space. The primary storage article 11 also comprises an open end 22, through which the sheets of material and the additional storage articles 12, 13 may be inserted and/or removed from the primary storage space of the primary storage article 11.
The primary storage article 11 also comprises a lid, comprising a flap 23, to close over the open end 22.
The flap 23 is connected on a first side to one of the side walls of the primary storage article 11. The primary storage article 11 also comprises a fastener 24 for fastening the lid 23 closed. The fastener 24 may be any suitable fastener, such as a press-stud or clip for example. The fastener 24 may fasten a second side of the flap 23, which opposes the first side, to another of the side walls of the primary storage article 11. This ensures that the lid is secured in position over the open end 22 of the primary storage article 11 in order to prevent the contents of the primary storage article 11 from falling 11 out.
The primary storage article 11 also comprises at least one handle 25. The handle 25 is connected to the flap 23 and enables both the primary storage article 11 and the storage kit 10 as a whole to be readily portable.
The first additional storage article 12 comprises at least two side walls 30 (but preferably four side walls as shown in Figure 1) defining a first storage space therebetween. Sheets of material may be stored in the first storage space. The second additional storage article 13 may also be stored in the first storage space.
The first additional storage article 12 also comprises a base 31, extending between the at least two side walls 30. However, in another embodiment to that shown in Figure i, the base 20 of the primary storage article 11 may form the base the of the first additional storage article 12. The first additional storage article 12 also comprises an open end 32, through which the sheets of material and the second additional storage article 13 may be inserted and/or removed from the first storage space of the first additional storage article 12.
The first additional storage article 12 also comprises a lid, comprising a flap 33, to close over the open end 32. The flap 33 is connected on a first side to one of the side walls 30. The first additional storage article 12 also comprises a fastener 34 for fastening the flap 33 closed. The fastener 34 may be any suitable fastener, such as a press-stud or clip for example. The fastener 34 may fasten a second side of the flap 33, which opposes the first side, to another of the side walls 30 of the first additional storage article 12. This ensures that the lid is secured in position over the open end 32 of the first additional storage article 12 in order to prevent the contents of the first additional storage article 12 from falling out.
The first additional storage article 12 also comprises at least one handle 35. The handle 35 is 12 connected to the flap 33 and enables the first additional storage article 12 to be readily portable independent of the other components of the storage kit The second additional storage article 13 comprises at least two side walls 40 (but preferably four side walls as shown in Figure 1) defining a second storage space therebetween. Sheets of material may be stored in the second storage space. If the storage kit 10 comprises a further additional storage article(s), they may also be stored in the second storage space.
The second additional storage article 13 also comprises a base 41, extending between the at least two side walls 40. However, in another embodiment to that shown in Figure 1, the base 20 of the primary storage article 11 may form the base the of the second additional storage article 13. The second additional storage article 13 also comprises an open end 42, through which the sheets of material and the further additional storage article(s) may be inserted and/or removed from the second storage space of the second additional storage article 13.
The second additional storage article 13 also comprises a lid, comprising a flap 43, to close over the open end 42. The flap 43 is connected on a first side to one of the side walls 40. The second additional storage article 13 also comprises a fastener 44 for fastening the flap 43 closed. The fastener 44 may be any suitable fastener, such as a press-stud or clip for example. The fastener 44 may fasten a second side of the flap 43, which opposes the first side, to another of the side walls 40 of the second additional storage article 42. This ensures that the lid is secured in position over the open end 42 of the second additional storage article 13 in order to prevent the contents of the second additional storage article 13 from falling out.
The second additional storage article 13 also comprises at least one handle 45. The handle 45 is connected to the flap 43 and enables the second additional 13 storage article 13 to be readily portable independent of the other components of the storage kit The primary storage article 11, as well as the first and second additional storage articles 12, 13 are all generally in the shape of a rectangular prism in shape. The primary storage article 11 and the additional storage articles 12, 13 are substantially similar in twodimensions and substantially different in a third dimension. Of course, it is understood that for the first and second additional articles 12, 13 to be sized to be storable within the primary storage article 11, that they must be marginally smaller than the primary storage article 11 in at least one of the two dimensions in which they are substantially similar to the primary storage article 11.
As shown in Figure i, the primary storage article 11 and the additional storage articles 12, 13 are substantially similar in height and length. However, in other embodiments, they could be substantially similar in height and width or in length and width. In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the additional storage articles 12, 13 are marginally smaller than the primary storage article 11 in at least their length, but preferably also in height.
Furthermore, the primary storage article 11 is of greater width than the additional storage articles 12, 13. Also, the first additional storage article 12 is of greater width than the second additional storage article 13.
The primary storage article 11 is sized to enable storage of the sheets of material therein without requiring the sheets of material to be folded or otherwise bent. In particular, the sheets of material are either A4 (210 x 297nm) or A3 (297 x 420mm) sheets of material.
Thus, the primary storage article 11 in these particular embodiments is of a height and length which is slight greater than the dimensions of the A4 or A3 sheets of material.
In addition, the additional storage articles 12, 14 13 are also sized to enable storage of the sheets of material therein without requiring the sheets of material to be folded or otherwise bent. In particular, the sheets of material are either A4 (210 x 297mm) or A3 (297 x 420mm) sheets of material. Thus, the additional storage articles 12, 13 in these particular embodiments are of a height and length which is slight greater than the dimensions of the A4 or A3 sheets of material.
Referring now to Figure 2, a storage kit 110 for storing sheets of material according to another embodiment of the present invention is shown. Features of the storage kit 110 which are similar to the features of the storage kit 10 shown in Figure 1 have been designated with the same reference number, but prefixed with the numeral i.
The storage kit 110 comprises a primary storage article 111 for storing sheets of material. The storage kit 110 also comprises first and second additional storage articles 112 and 113 respectively, which are also for storing sheets of material. The first and second additional storage articles 112, 113 are sized to be storable within the primary storage article 111. However, the second additional storage article 113 is not sized to be storable within the first additional storage article 112. Instead, the second additional storage article 113 is substantially similar to the first additional storage article 112. A useful variation of the embodiment shown in Figure 2 is for the storage kit 110 to comprise five substantially similar additional storage articles, all storable within the primary storage article 111. The five additional storage articles each for storing documents relevant to a person's tax for one of the previous five years.
In the claims which follows and in the preceding description of the invention, except where the context requires otherwise due to express language or necessary implication, the word "comprise" or variations such as "comprises" or "comprising" is used in an inclusive sense, 15 ie. to specify the presence of the stated features but not to preclude the presence or addition of further features in various embodiments of the invention.
