Patents Act COMPLETE SPECIFICATION
(ORIGINAL)
Class Int. Class Application Number: Lodged: Complete Specification Lodged: Accepted: Published: Priority Related Art: Name of Applicant: Franz Plasser Bahnbaumaschinen-lndustriegesellschaft m.b.H.
Actual Inventor(s): Bernard Huwer Address for Service and Correspondence: PHILLIPS ORMONDE FITZPATRICK Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys 367 Collins Street Melbourne 3000 AUSTRALIA Invention Title: A MACHINE FOR THE TREATMENT OF A TRACK Our Ref: 708447 POF Code: 1203/1203 The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to applicant(s): -1- 6006q The invention relates to a machine for the treatment of a track.
A machine for the renewal of a track is shown in US 4 979 247. In a rear section, this machine comprises a bridge girder, equipped with working units, which is displaceable from a working position into a transit travel position.
For that purpose, an auxiliary undercarriage is provided at either end.
The object of the present invention lies in creating a machine with which it is possible to treat a short track section while also including, if desired, a rail renewal.
According to the invention, this object is achieved with a machine designed in accordance with the features of claim 1.
Due to the displaceability of the bridge girder on the second machine frame, there is the possibility, on the one hand, to employ the second machine frame for transporting rails and, on the other hand, to unhinderedly carry out a transport of rails to or from the track with the aid of the bridge girder.
Subsequent to the rail renewal, it is possible to also carry out in the treated track section a correction of the track position, finalizing the track treatment, with the aid of the working units located on the first machine frame.
Additional advantages and features of the invention become apparent from the further claims and the drawing.
The invention will be described in more detail below with reference to examples of embodiments represented in the drawing in which Figs. 1 to 4 each show a side view of a machine, according to the invention, in different working positions, and Fig. 5 shows a bridge girder of telescopic design.
A machine 1, visible in Figs. 1 to 4, is composed of a first machine frame 2 and a second machine frame 4, connected to the former by means of a coupling 3. Both machine frames 2,4 are mobile by means of on-track undercarriages 5 on a track 8 comprising rails 6 and sleepers 7. The first machine frame 2 is equipped with a motive drive 9, a work cabin 10, and working units 11.
The second machine frame 4 comprises a loading area 12 having two guide rails 13 spaced from one another in the transverse direction of the machine.
A bridge girder 14, extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine, has a first end 15 connected to the first machine frame 2 for rotation about a vertical axis 16. A second end 17 of the bridge girder 14 is connected to a guide 18. The latter is designed in the shape of flanged rollers 19, spaced from one another in the transverse direction of the machine, which are mobile along the guide rails 13.
In a region immediately adjoining the second end 17, the bridge girder 14 is connected to an auxiliary undercarriage 20 (Fig. 3) which is pivotable by means of a drive 21 about an axis 22 extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the bridge girder 14 and is vertically adjustable relative to said axis 22. A work cabin 23 with a control device 24 is also associated with the second end 17 of the bridge girder 14. The work cabin 23 is vertically adjustable relative to the bridge girder 14 by means of a drive The bridge girder 14 is further equipped with a number of lifting devices 26, designed as trolleys, for gripping and lifting a rail segment 27.
The mode of functioning of the machine 1 will be described in more detail below. As soon as the machine 1 has reached the track section to be treated, a rail segment 27 is gripped with the aid of the lifting devices 26 and lifted off the loading area 12. Thereafter, the coupling 3 is detached and the first machine frame 2 is moved away by actuation of the motive drive 9. This causes the guide 18 to roll on the guide rails 13 until the coupling 3 of the second machine frame 4 is reached (see Fig. Thus, a renewal gap 28 for exchanging the rail segment 27 is exposed.
As can be seen in Fig. 3, the second end 17 of the bridge girder 14 may support itself on the track 8 by means of the auxiliary undercarriage Thus, the second machine frame 4 may be driven away from the renewal gap 28 for removing old or bringing on new rail segments 27.
As soon as the second machine frame 4 has again reached the renewal gap 28, the guide 18 is brought into contact with the guide rails 13 in order to finally reconnect the two machine frames 2,4 to one another by means of the coupling 3 (see Fig. Thereafter, the exchanged old rail segment 27 can be deposited upon the loading area'12.
As a finalizing treatment, the track section, now provided with new rail segments 27, may be optimized with regard to the track position with the aid of the working units 11 provided on the first machine frame 2 in the shape of a tamping unit and a track lifting unit. The work cabin 23 is lowered for transit travel.
As indicated in Fig. 5, the bridge girder 14 may also be designed for telescopic elongation in the longitudinal direction of the machine in order to extend the renewal gap in this manner.
