Abstract

An apparatus and a method for transmitting/receiving a signal in a communication system are provided to support various coding rates with one parity check matrix to reduce the implementation complexity of an encoder and a decoder. A method for transmitting/receiving a signal in a communication system includes the step of generating an ultimate block LDPC(Low Density Parity Check) code from an information vector by using a main parity check matrix corresponding to a coding rate or a sub parity check matrix generated based on the main parity check matrix. The first coding rate which is supported by the sub parity check matrix is lower than the second coding rate which is supported by the main parity check matrix. The sub parity check matrix includes the main parity check matrix.
