Abstract

The method involves receiving (1) a signal by a crossing system by approaching a train in mains operation. A mains-independent power supply is provided for operating a light signaling system and a controller of the crossing system. The light signaling system is activated (2) to display a stop signal by power failure and approaching the train. A speed of the train, with which the train passes the crossing system, is reduced (10) to a fixed low speed due to lack of confirmation signal for a closed barrier. An independent claim is included for an autonomous level crossing system.
