Abstract
Tooling for the fabrication of a crosspiece with a closed section for connecting two longitudinal arms of a motor vehicle axle comprises a die (3) cooperating with a punch (2) for forming on the closed section of the crosspiece a lengthwise zone of torsion (L) and a mechanism for retaining the crosspiece in position. The die and/or the punch are adaptable in length to enable the length of the zone of torsion to be adapted. An independent claim is also claimed for the fabrication of a crosspiece with a closed section.
