Abstract
Steel sheet containing 10-500 ppm of carbon is cold rolled. The oil used, has a viscosity in the range 30-70 mm<2>/s measured at 50 degrees C. The steel sheet is annealed, causing recrystallization. The surface to be coated is pickled in a mineral acid, and is then coated in a tin bath of high purity. In this way, between the tin layer and the steel sheet, a tin/steel boundary layer (diffusion layer) is formed. An Independent claim is included for corresponding tinplate.
