Abstract

A papermaking calendar drum has a mantle (2) incorporating a number of heating ducts (8) at regular intervals and linked to a heat fluid inlet and outlet. The ducts have supplementary temperature regulators (23, 25, 32, 33) with heating elements that facilitate setting different temperatures between the individual ducts. Each individual duct has a temperature regulator coupled to an electrical heating element. The electrical heating element is inductive, microwave or infrared. The temperature regulation system rotates with the calendar drum. also claimed is a commensurate operating process.
