Abstract

The invention relates to a covering device for an airbag (28), with a rigid support piece (12) and a decorative skin (14), connected thereto, which covers a firing channel (30) for the airbag (28), which is provided with, on the rear side thereof, facing the support piece, an invisible internal weakening (18) in the skin, running along a set pre-determined breakage line (16), which may be torn by the unfolding airbag (28) in the firing channel (30). According to the invention, a reliable tearing may be guaranteed, whereby the skin weakening (18) is at least partly embodied as a multiple cut line (38) by at least two laterally adjacent skin scorings (36).
