Abstract
The invention relates to an aerological drop sonde designed to be used either as a drop sonde or as a sonde placed on a free balloon or a captive balloon. The inventive drop sonde is composed of a meteorological sonde used for determining at least the basic meteorological data during ascent or descent. It comprises a GPS receiving unit for determining its current position, as well as a radio apparatus for transmitting at least the last position data immediately before landing. A central processing unit with a memory connects the three systems of said drop sonde and stores the recorded meteorological data as well as the recording positions. The inventive sonde is made of systems which are commercially available.
