Abstract
The energy dissipating device (3) has at least one energy dissipating element (5) and power input element (6) for the rail vehicle (1). This acts on the further impact and energy build-up after the energy receiving capacity of the primary reversible energy dissipating device has been used up. There is at least one energy dissipating element or its force input element fitted in the endface of the rail vehicle, within the vehicle outline. After the activation of one dissipating element (4) by an activation mechanism (7), the other element is pushed forward against the direction of impact outside the endface outline of the vehicle onto the corresponding element of the next vehicle.
