Abstract
The impact protection device, complementary to the buffers, consists of one ore more energy absorption elements of rectangular cross section. There is an energy absorption element between each buffer element (15,15',16,16') and the main frame of the vehicle. The element is in the form of a closed box-like carrier (13,14), the cross section of which widens regularly from the buffer element to the main frame. The carrier is of rectangular cross section at least in the region in which it is fixed to the main frame.
