Abstract

The ventilation system for a ceramic hob fits beneath the glass or ceramic top surface (2), in the enclosure (3) that houses the electrical components for the hob. The cooling is provided by an electrically driven fan (18). The fan is mounted above an opening (23) in the bottom of the enclosure. A metal duct covers to top of the fan and protects it from the heat of the hob. The duct carries air drawn in by the fan over the electronic control module (19). The glass or ceramic top is supported on the rim (9) of the lower enclosure. The rim fits over the edge of the opening provided in the work top (4) to accept the hob. The rim has passages (13) on one side to allow air to be drawn round the underside of the enclosure by the fan, and has passages (14) on the other side to exhaust air delivered by the fan.
