Abstract
A resistance material with a variable resistance is self-regulated depending on the electric current passage and suddenly increases its specific resistance at a predetermined increased current passage. The material is composed of a mixture of at least two substances of which one has piezoelectric properties and the other electroconductive properties. Particles or grains of both substances are distributed next to each other in the mixture, so that when the mixture is condensed, current can flow through the electroconductive particles. The electroconductive particles partially or totally enclose the piezoelectric particles. This resistance material is particularly suitable for producing components useful as an automatically current-cutting or delimiting element in electric switching devices, for example, or in a general manner in any current consumers.
