Abstract

In this hermaphroditic connector, the connections which are used as line terminations between specific contacts (9) are produced by means of a bridge module (11) which can be coded. An insulating housing, which consists of a lower cover (1), a contact module (5) and an upper cover (12), has a screen which extends from the cable entry region up to the connector region and is constructed essentially from a screening module (26), which can be matched to the cable entry, a lower forked screening element (25), an upper screening element (13) and two screening tongues (14), which can be plugged onto the bridge module (11). Horizontal passages, which run over the broad side and have metal pins, are provided on the bridge module (11), to which passages vertical bushings, which originate from recesses arranged downwards, lead. Metallic bolts, which are inserted into the vertical bushings, connect the metal pins to the contacts (9) which pass through the recesses. When the connector is mated with another hermaphroditic connector, the connections which are freely selectable by means of the bolts are automatically withdrawn.
