Socket for electric light bulbs with central ground contact.
The present invention relates to a socket for electric incandescent lamps with central ground contact and a current-carrying cylindrical jacket, such as those used in particular for lighting on vehicles. For such lamps, relatively high currents at low voltage come into question. As a result, it is necessary to reduce the contact resistance between socket and lamp to the lowest possible level.

not, because the pressure bolts used in Swan mounts do not provide a reliable power line at the low voltages. The essence of the present invention is that the spring carrying the ground contact of the socket is attached to the lamp holder itself, specifically insulated.
The drawing (Fig. I and 2) shows an embodiment of the subject invention.
The substantially disc-shaped lamp holder a has a bore corresponding to the current-carrying cylindrical jacket of the lamp n. The lamp carrier a has cutouts g for the noses f provided on the current-carrying jacket of the lamp n, which are used to fasten the lamp. On one side of the cutouts g, tabs I are bent downwards, which serve as stops for the lugs f when the inserted lamp is rotated. The lamp holder a also has a sleeve b, which is used to guide and power the cylindrical jacket. This sleeve b can be slotted or have stamped springs in order to achieve better contact between the socket and the lamp.
The spring c is connected to the lamp holder a by screws s or the like with the interposition of insulating material i and bears the ground contact d. One end of the spring c is bent over to form an eyelet in which the power supply line can be attached by soldering or the like. The lamp holder a itself is conveniently connected to the reflector m of the headlight, the connection can be made by soldering, screwing or the like. If lamps are used in which the distance between the filament and the noses f has a certain dimensioned value, it can be achieved with the use of appropriate reflectors that the filament is exactly in the focal point of the reflector, without special measures being necessary to achieve this position are.
The socket forming the subject of the invention has the advantage over known constructions for such purposes that special attention with regard to the mutual distance is not required when installing the parts.
PATENT CLAIMS: i. Socket for electric incandescent lamps with central ground contact and current-carrying cylindrical jacket, in particular for lighting on vehicles, characterized in that a spring (c) carrying the ground contact is insulated on a substantially disc-shaped lamp holder (a).
