Distance meter with control device.
The present invention relates to a distance meter based on the principle of mirror sextants, which is provided with a completely new type of control device, which consists in the fact that a combination of two tangential screws and their accessories are attached to the orientation lever of the instrument in such a way that the distance meter can be used with a single one Setting up the instrument (without stirring with the same) can achieve any number (e.g. up to 50) of independent observations and control dimensions of the targeted object fairly quickly and accurately.
In the three drawings, the discussed instrument is shown in four figures, namely:
Fig. I is a view of the entire instrument,
2 shows a section of the screw device including accessories (MSch and DSch),
3 shows a floor plan of the screw device including accessories,
Fig. 4 shows a cross section X-Y of the screw device including accessories (see front view of Fig. 3).
The instrument consists of a support T, at the lower end of which the covered mirror

The orientation lever OrH is located on the carrier with a pin Z mounted in the mirror chamber, around which this lever can be rotated. The telescope with the fixed mirror is attached to the upper end of the orientation lever. In addition to the orientation lever, the measuring lever MH also rotates around the pin, at the lower end of which the movable mirror BSp is attached, which can be set in rotation as required by means of the measuring lever. The control device according to the present invention, consisting of a combination of two tangential screws with their accessories, is attached to the orientation lever.

The micrometer screw (height of the screw thread i mm) abuts the screw nut or slide S of the differential screw with its spindle tip under a spring drive; the differential screw has two screw threads A and B attached to its spindle, namely

rotates freely at the smooth point of its spindle in the orientation lever and at the same time it engages with its screw thread in a screw nut of the measuring lever. The differential screw, however, engages with its i mm high screw thread in a screw nut C of the orientation lever and with its o; MW high thread into the slide S, on the plate of which the spindle tip of the micrometer screw rests.
With one rotation of the micrometer screw, the movement of the measuring lever in the direction of the screw axis is imam, while with one rotation of the differential screw the movement of the measuring lever in the same direction is only 0.1 mm. It can be seen from this that when the differential screw DSclz is turned, not only the measuring lever Mss, but also the entire screw device of the micrometer screw, including its accessories, is set in motion. The simultaneous is based on this

Use of the two mentioned screws MSch and DSch together with their accessories. Reading of the control results obtained on the rotary dial DrSk of these two screws.
On the distance scale, the distance of the observed point is read directly, but without control, in meters; On the dials of both screws, the number of screw turns is indicated up to a thousandth of the same, which number can be found in an associated table immediately the corresponding distance in meters. It should be noted that with a single turn of the micrometer screw the distance D = 500 m and with a single turn of the differential screw the distance D = 5000 M is displayed. As a result, the
Distance scale of the micrometer screw read off distances from 500 to 5000111, while distances of 5000 11Z upwards are determined on the distance scale of the differential screw.
The practical use of the instrument is as follows: The telescope is set to the point whose distance is to be determined, which results in two images in a known manner, one directly in the upper part of the eyepiece image field and one in the lower part of the Eyepiece image field comes about. By turning the two screws MSch and DSch, these two images are brought into congruence (coincidence).
The control measurements are practically carried out by first giving the micrometer screw a position in which a number rounded to tenths, hundredths or thousandths of a screw pitch can be read on its rotary scale. In order to achieve the coincidence of the two images, the differential screw must be given a certain position by turning it accordingly, which is then read off on the rotation scale of this differential screw. Xun you add the information from both scales and thus get the result of the first dimension z. B.:

The micrometer screw is then given various other positions, all of which correspond to the scale figures rounded off in the manner mentioned above, and the coincidence of the images is established for each position by turning the differential screw. The sums 0'4348, 0 * 4346, 0'4341, 0 * 4342, from which the arithmetic mean is 0'43444, then result by combining two screw specifications. The arithmetic h.h '

The reason for this equation results from the fact that if w is the angle at which the center points of the two mirrors appear from the point whose distance is to be determined

Finally it is noted that the instrument can be used for measurements in an upright or lying position or in any position.
