Description

Device for fastening a ball bearing on its shaft.

It is already known to fasten ball bearings on the shaft in that the inner race is clamped between collars which are adjustable in relation to one another on the shaft and which are secured against rotation. This was done in such a way that the inner race was supported on one side against a shoulder of the shaft and was pressed against this from the other side by a nut screwed onto the thread of the shaft, which was provided with some kind of lock against loosening. There could be no question of a completely secure fastening of the bearing on the shaft, since the inner race was only connected to the shaft by the friction on the clamping elements (collars), so that the friction is overcome when the bearing is subjected to greater loads so that a twisting of the inner bearing ring was possible.

In order to eliminate this inconvenience, according to the present invention, at least one of these collars or shoulders of the shaft engages by means of unevenness (claws or the like) of its clamping surface in corresponding unevenness of the surface of the race to be fastened facing it and it is because the clamping collars are prevented from rotating by the lock nut or the like, rotation of the inner ball bearing ring is completely excluded. As a result, there is also no need for such a high mounting pressure between the clamping surfaces, which increases the safety of the entire construction.

An embodiment of such a device is illustrated in the drawing in axial section.

The inner ball bearing ring b to be attached to the shaft a is pressed against a step e of the shaft a by a collar c, which is screwed onto the thread d of the shaft, so that the race b between the step e of the shaft and the clamping surface of the Federal c is clamped. In order to prevent a relative rotation of the ring b with respect to the collar o held by a lock nut f or with respect to the shaft a, the surface of the collar c resting on the race b is provided with lugs g which fit into corresponding recesses h of the adjacent side surface of the ring engage.

The structural design of the fastening device can be changed in various ways within the scope of the principle presented. Above all, in the embodiment described, on the clamping surface of the collar c, instead of the lugs g, a toothing running all around can be arranged, which engages in a corresponding toothing of the ring b, as at all to prevent a relative rotation of the ring b with respect to the collar c the clamping surfaces can be designed unevenly in any way. In some cases the bearing b can be fastened between two removable collars on the shaft, so that for example instead of the
Gradation e a nut that can be screwed on from the other side, similar to the collar c, could be used.

It is also possible for both of the collars clamping the inner race and, accordingly, both side surfaces of the race to have interlocking claw-shaped unevennesses.

The design of the ball bearing itself is irrelevant for the nature of the fastening device described.
