1800 Umdrehungen pro Minute an.

The invention relates to a linear sliding system for an ultrasound image transmitter
Intravascular ultrasound catheter which is mounted on a flexible, rotating shaft and which enables the reconstruction of a sectional image of the vessel during rotation and linear movement.
The intravascular ultrasound catheter (also called IVUS catheter) consists of a flexible rotating shaft (approx. 1.85 m long) which is mounted in a plastic tube. At the
An ultrasound image transmitter is located at the end of the wave. The flexible shaft is over one
Connector connected to a drive motor. The motor drives the flexible shaft
1800 revolutions per minute. The plastic hose is connected to a lock.
The target vessel is examined linearly by advancing the flexible shaft together with the ultrasound image transmitter, whereby a vessel area of 5 cm length is usually detected, a maximum of about 15 cm is possible. The linear movement should take place at two standardized speeds: 0.5mm / s and 1mm / s.
A device is known from US Pat. No. 6,290,675 A which retracts the IVUS catheter with two driven rollers. The disadvantage of this construction is that the device is battery-operated (with an electric motor) and, as a so-called one-way product, is relatively expensive and its handling is complex.
The aim of the present invention is to provide a linear sliding system for an ultrasound image transmitter of an intravascular ultrasound catheter which is operated without an additional drive motor.
This is achieved in a linear sliding system of the type mentioned at the outset by using a gear unit with a sliding element between the drive motor for the flexible shaft and the connector, which is driven by it.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the following drawings: FIG. 1 shows the simplified view of an ultrasound cardiac catheter with a drive motor for a flexible shaft and an ultrasound image transmitter.

FIG. 2 shows the simplified view of an ultrasound cardiac catheter as can be seen in FIG. 1, with a linear sliding element for ultrasound image transmitters according to the invention. The
Ultrasound image transmitter is in the starting position.
FIG. 3 shows how an ultrasound image transmitter, as can be seen in FIG. 2, is withdrawn from the starting position with the linear sliding element according to the invention.
Fig. 4 shows a 3-dimensional representation of the linear sliding system, with
Functional principle and including the drive.
In Fig.list an ultrasound cardiac catheter drawn with the drive motor 1 by the
Connector 2 is connected, including lock 3 and flexible shaft 4 with ultrasound
Image transmitter 5 which is mounted in the tube 6. The ultrasound image transmitter 5 is in the
Starting position.
Fig. 2 shows the linear sliding system 7 according to the invention for the ultrasound image transmitter 5 for the intravascular ultrasound catheter with the drive motor 1 by means of the coupling
8 is connected and to the sliding element 9 which is connected to the lock 3 by means of the fork 10. The ultrasound image sensor 5 is in the starting position.
3 shows the linear sliding system 7 according to the invention for the ultrasound image transmitter 5 in operation, with a linear movement of the ultrasound image transmitter 5 being present.
Fig. 4 shows the linear sliding system according to the invention for the ultrasound image transmitter 5 with the clutch 8, the drive shaft 11 for rotational movement of the ultrasound image transmitter 5, and the drive rollers 13 and 14 and the pressure roller 12 for the flat belt 9a together with the
Guide rollers 15 and 16 and the guide unit 17 for the sliding element 9.
An advantageous further development of the arrangement described according to FIG. 4 consists in that the guide unit 17 converts the flexible flat band 9a into a pressure and bending resistant one
Sliding element 9 forms, which deform the rollers 15, 16 back into a flexible flat belt 9a.
The drive shaft 11 drives the bending shaft 4 of the ultrasound image transmitter 5 at a constant speed. This rotation of the drive shaft 11 is transmitted by means of the gear elements 18 and 19 to the drive rollers 13 and 14, which have different speeds.
By moving the pressure roller 12 on the sliding button 20 with the roller holder 21 into the guide 22 above the drive rollers 13 and 14, two different linear movements of the belt 9a and thus of the sliding element 9 are achieved.
The rope 23 is connected to the flat belt 9a and rolled up on the drum 24, which generates a return force with the spring 25.
After the end of the examination, the pressure roller 12 is brought into the middle position between the drive rollers 13 and 14, then the flat band 9a with the sliding element 9, the fork 10 and the lock 3 is pulled back into the starting position by the action of the spring 25 in order to take further measurements start.

The entire system is protected by a housing so that the objects (e.g. textiles) cannot get into the drive, whereby the connection for liquids and infusions at Connector 2 is freely accessible.
The invention is an inexpensive and easy to use disposable product. The device is designed so that several (up to 50) measurements can be carried out on one patient.
