VERFAHREN UND MESSSYSTEM ZUR ERMITTLUNG EINER POSITION EINES SCHIENENFAHRZEUGS METHOD AND MEASURING SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING A POSITION OF A RAIL VEHICLE
TECHNISCHES GEBIET TECHNICAL AREA
The invention relates to a method for determining a position of a rail vehicle moving on a track by means of a measuring system that includes a stereo camera system and an evaluation device, a pair of images of a reference marking in a lateral area surrounding the track being recorded by means of the stereo camera system and the position of the rail vehicle in relation to the reference marking is determined by means of photogrammetry. In addition, the invention relates to a measuring system for carrying out the method.
STAND DER TECHNIK STATE OF THE ART
AT 518579 A1 discloses a generic measuring system for determining position in track construction. On the one hand, a rail vehicle equipped with the measuring system is thus localized. On the other hand, this solution serves to record the current track position with millimeter precision. Specifically, the measuring system is used to compare measurements from an inertial measuring unit and a displacement transducer in a stationary reference system. For this purpose, reference markings located next to the track are recorded using a stereo camera system and their position is determined. Marking bolts, which are attached to fixed equipment such as electric masts, usually serve as reference marks.
DARSTELLUNG DER ERFINDUNG PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION
The invention has for its object to improve a method of the type mentioned in that the detection and evaluation of a reference mark can be carried out without interference regardless of external influences. Another object of the invention is to specify a corresponding measuring system.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by a method according to claim 1 and a system according to claim 5. Dependent claims specify advantageous refinements of the invention.
[0005] At least one light source of the measuring system is used to illuminate a lateral area surrounding the rail vehicle with polarized light, the polarized light being reflected by a retroreflector located on the reference marking, and the polarized light reflected by the retroreflector being received by the stereo camera system through a polarization filter . The polarization properties of the light emitted by the light source and the light received by the stereo camera system are matched to one another, taking into account the properties of the retroreflector. The light from other artificial light sources and sunlight is blocked out. Only the area illuminated by the system's own light source is retroreflected in a predetermined manner and captured by the stereo camera system. The suppression of disturbing light influences leads to an optimization of the evaluation, because no computing effort is required to eliminate detection errors.
In an advantageous development of the method, the direction of polarization of a retroreflected light wave is rotated by a predetermined angle, in particular by 90°, relative to an incident light wave by means of the retroreflector. The direction of polarization is understood as meaning the orientation of the polarization of a linearly polarized light wave. This ensures that a reflective surface that happens to be on the side of the track is not interpreted as a reference mark.
A further improvement of the invention provides that by means of at least one
Light source polarized light is emitted in a certain spectral range and that the polarized light reflected from the retroreflector is received by means of the stereo camera system through a spectral filter adapted to this spectral range. This additional coordination between the light source and the stereo camera system leads to a further reduction in possible interference. In any case, all sources of interference that emit light outside the selected spectral range are eliminated.
For a further optimization of the method, it is advantageous if two cameras of the stereo camera system and two light sources, each associated with a camera, are controlled by means of a common trigger pulse generator (trigger pulse generator). Successive acquisition events of the lateral environment of the track are triggered by a train of synchronous pulses. On the one hand, this ensures that the two images of a recorded pair of images are recorded exactly synchronously. On the other hand, extremely short exposure times can be achieved thanks to the synchronous triggering of the light sources. This allows the method to be carried out when the rail vehicle is traveling at high speeds, without reducing the sharpness of the image.
In the measuring system according to the invention for carrying out one of the methods described, a stereo camera system and an evaluation device are arranged on a rail vehicle, with at least one reference marking being arranged in a lateral area surrounding a track, with at least one light source of the measuring system being set up to generate polarized light, wherein the reference marking comprises a retroreflector for reflecting the polarized light and wherein the stereo camera system comprises a polarization filter whose polarization axis is aligned parallel to the polarization direction of the retroreflected light. In this way, the system components are matched to one another so that the reference mark can be detected without interference even under unfavorable environmental conditions.
In an advantageous development of the system, the retroreflector is a prismatic reflector which rotates the direction of polarization of a retroreflected light wave relative to an incident light wave by an angle of 90°. Such a retroreflector can be distinguished particularly well from other reflecting surfaces in the detection field of the stereo camera system, because the light with rotated polarization can be clearly assigned to the retroreflector.
[0011] An improvement of the stereo camera system comprises two cameras which are aligned in a fixed manner with respect to one another, with each camera being assigned its own light source. This arrangement offers several advantages over a camera body with two lenses or an arrangement with a camera that records the respective image pair during a position change. In particular, the fixed distance between the two cameras can be preset so that a particularly precise result is obtained using photogrammetry for the expected distance to the respective reference marking.
In this embodiment, the respective light source is advantageously arranged as a ring flash around a lens of the associated camera. With this arrangement, the illumination of the retroreflector is optimized in relation to the respective camera axis. A respective flash unit with several LEDs combine short exposure times with high light intensity, which means that sharp images are possible even at high relative speeds between the stereo camera system and the reference mark.
For a common control of the cameras and the light sources, a common trigger pulse generator is usefully arranged. For example, this is integrated with a control unit in the evaluation device.
In a further development of the system, a spectral filter is arranged in front of each camera, which is tuned to the light from the associated light source. The use of a light source with a narrow spectral range enables interference from sunlight or extraneous light sources to be efficiently blocked.

BESCHREIBUNG DER AUSFÜHRUNGSFORMEN DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS
The rail vehicle 1 shown in FIG. 1 is, for example, a measuring car that can be moved along a track 3 on rail chassis 2 with its own drive. Other track-driven vehicles or track-laying machines are also suitable as carrier vehicles. A stereo camera system 5 aligned to the side is arranged on a vehicle frame 4 . It serves as a component of a measuring system 6 for determining the position of the rail vehicle 1 relative to a reference marking 7 attached to the side surrounding the track 3.
Additional sensors and measuring devices are arranged on the rail vehicle 1 in order to detect a relative position of the track. For example, inertial measurement units (IMU) 8 record a trajectory of the track 3 while driving on it. The entire surface of the track 3 and the immediate surroundings are recorded by means of laser scanners 9 .
A measuring frame 10 optionally arranged on a rail chassis 2 is connected directly to the wheel axles. In this way, only minimal movements relative to the track 3 have to be compensated for so that the trajectory recorded by the inertial measuring unit 8 corresponds to the course of the railway. This is done, for example, by means of non-contact motion sensors 11 that detect movements of the measuring frame 10 relative to the rails 12 of the track 3 .
Ergebnis sind Koordinaten von Fahrkanten 13 der Schienen 12 in einem ortsfesten Koordinatensystem, in dem die Referenzmarkierung 7 als Bezugspunkt dient. is indicated by dotted lines that the measuring frame 10 is also suitable for attaching the stereo camera system 5. The existing motion sensors 11 are used to determine the current position of the stereo camera system 5 relative to the rails 12. In the alternative arrangement on the vehicle frame 4, separate movement sensors 11 are provided so that the movements relative to the rails 12 are detected. In this way, the absolute position of the rail vehicle 1 determined by means of the measuring system 6 can be directly transferred to the course of the track in order to determine the absolute position of the track. The result are coordinates of running edges 13 of the rails 12 in a stationary coordinate system in which the reference marking 7 serves as a reference point.
The detection of the absolute position of the rail vehicle 1 is explained with reference to FIG. During a journey on the track 3, the stereo camera system 5 continuously records pairs of images of the lateral surroundings of the track 3. Marker bolts are already attached to masts 14 or other fixed facilities on many railway lines. Their location coordinates are stored in a directory. The coordinates of these marking bolts are also advantageously used for the reference markings 7 . However, new reference markings 7 can also be set along a stretch of track.
According to the invention, the respective reference mark 7 is equipped with a retroreflector 15 so that good visibility by means of the stereo camera system 5 is ensured. By means of the retroreflector 15, each incident light beam is reflected parallel to itself. In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, retroreflective panes with graphic
Solche Reflektoren kombinieren Reflexions- und Brechungsvorgänge. applied to the marker bolts in accordance with a specific pattern. The respective retroreflector 15 comprises, for example, a large number of triple reflectors or triple prisms. Geometrically, a triple reflector can be viewed as a three-dimensional corner of a cube. Other reflectors can also be used, for example pentaprisms or an EDM reflector. Such reflectors combine reflection and refraction processes.
An evaluation algorithm for pattern recognition is set up in an evaluation device 16 . This analyzes whether an image of the reference marking 7 appears in the respective pair of images. If the reference marking 7 is found in both images of the recorded image pair, a next step of the evaluation logic begins. The position of a characteristic center of the reference marking 7 is determined in an entrained coordinate system by means of photogrammetry. Subsequently, a processor uses coordinate transformation to calculate the coordinates xp, yp and ze of the reference marking 7 in a track-related coordinate system x, y, z. The origin of this coordinate system x, y, z is defined, for example, in the running edge 13 so that the coordinates xp, yp, Zp of the reference marking 7 directly reveal the absolute position of the detected course of the running edge 13 .
FIG. 3 shows the stereo camera system 5 shown in FIG. 2 in a side view. It includes two cameras 17 which are aligned at a fixed distance from one another. For this purpose, a common holder 18 is provided, which advantageously enables the cameras 17 to be adjusted by means of adjusting elements.
Each camera 17 includes a camera body 19 with an image sensor and a lens 20. The focal length and aperture of the lens 20 are set so that the lateral surroundings of the track 4 are sharply imaged over a large distance range. A ring flash is arranged around each lens 20 as the light source 21 and comprises a plurality of light-emitting diodes in each case. According to the invention, polarized light is generated by the light source 21 . A polarization filter 22 is arranged in front of the respective lens 20 , through which the polarized light reflected by the retroreflector 15 impinges on the image sensor of the camera housing 19 .
In Fig. 4 an advantageous arrangement of a camera 17, the associated light source 21 and the retroreflector 15 is shown schematically. The light source 21 embodied as a flashlight comprises a first polarization filter (polarizer) 22 with a specific first polarization direction. The light generated by the light source 21 is polarized by means of the polarization filter 22 by absorption. The axis of the polarization filter 22 determines the direction of polarization (orientation) of the transmitted linearly polarized light.
The retroreflector 15 is advantageously designed as a prismatic reflector (prism reflector). A prismatic reflector comprises a multiplicity of triple prisms arranged next to one another. Each triple prism is made of optically transparent material. The respective triple prism is flat on the front side. On the back, three triple surfaces are formed perpendicular to one another. A relative phase shift between the s- and p-polarized components of an incident light wave 23 occurs at these reflection surfaces. Therefore, the orientation of the polarization of a retroreflected light wave 24 changes compared to the incident light wave 23. In concrete terms, the three reflections on the three reflection surfaces mean that the polarization is retained, but its orientation is rotated by an angle of 90°.
The second polarization filter 22 arranged in front of the camera 17 has an axis rotated by 90° with respect to the first polarization filter 22 . The second polarization filter 22 is therefore permeable for the retro-reflected light wave 24 because the direction of polarization of the light wave 24 is also rotated by 90°. Light waves with a different polarization direction are blocked. This ensures that only the light from the light source 21 reflected by the retroreflector 15 strikes the sensor of the associated camera 17 and is subsequently evaluated.
An additional improvement provides that the light source 21 emits light in a specific spectral range, for example with a wavelength of approximately 660 nm. A spectral filter 25 is also arranged in front of the respective lens 20
Spectral range is tuned. Light with a wavelength of 660 nm is still in the range visible to humans and triggers a song closure reflex. This ensures that an accidental look into the light source 21 does not lead to injuries.
Fig. 5 shows an exemplary surface of the reference mark 7. This consists of a square with a light-absorbing coating in which several circles with a retroreflective surface are arranged. The center of the inner circle forms the center of the reference mark 7, which is assigned fixed coordinates. The redundant graphic design of the surface and the circular graphic elements result in advantages for the evaluation. On the one hand, the reference marking 7 can still be recognized when individual graphic elements are covered or dirty. On the other hand, the ability to evaluate the circular graphic elements is retained even in the case of fuzzy or overexposed images, because the respective center point of the circle can always be clearly determined.
In a further improvement, the light source 21 comprises stroboscope flashes 26, by means of which the lateral surroundings of the track 3 are illuminated with successive light pulses. Special devices can generate light pulses lasting a few tens of nanoseconds. A large number of light-emitting elements 27 ensure a high level of luminosity. Such flash lighting is many times (e.g. by a factor of 25) brighter than permanently lit variants. Due to the high light output, extraneous light and solar radiation are blended. In addition, noise-free image recordings are possible at high movement speeds.
The stroboscopic flashes 26 are controlled together with the cameras 17 by means of a trigger pulse generator 28, as shown in FIG. Trigger pulses 29 are thus generated, which ensure synchronous triggering of the stroboscopic flashes 26 and the cameras 17 . The shutter speed of the respective camera 17 is matched to the respective triggering time of the assigned stroboscopic flash 26 . The exposure time is determined by the duration of the light pulses of the stroboscopic flash 26. The extremely short exposure times thus achieved allow the rail vehicle 1 to travel at a high speed of more than 100 km/h without impairing the sharpness of the image pairs recorded.
