the desired incision is wedge-shaped, then the device described is set up in such a way that the tree is sawed off from the opposite side. As soon as the sawing of the tree has progressed so far that the tree begins to fall over, the device described must, respectively. their parts must be exposed in such a way that the falling tree does not damage the device.
For this purpose, correspondingly guided ropes 25 are linked to the pins 12, 22, 23, also to the hooks 16 and also to the releasable fastening of the spring 24, the free ends of which can be tightened by the worker, whereby the pulling ropes 18, 19, the bar 1 and the saw 9 are exposed, so that the whole device overturns behind the tree.
In Fig. 2 and 3 another device is shown by means of which the saw frame described can also be attached to the tree to be felled.
An arm 26 is connected to the rod 1 in any desired manner, at the free end of which links 27 articulated to one another are rotatably attached. A chain 28 is connected to these links in an easily detachable manner, so that the arm 26 is attached to the tree by folding the links 27 and the chain 28 around the tree, the links 27 being connected to the arm 26 by adjustable spreaders 29 can.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the ends of the chain 28 are hooked into the hook-shaped legs of the toggle levers 30, which can be brought into engagement with pawls 31, whereby the connection of the links 27 to the chain 28 is maintained. Ropes 25 are also connected to the pawls 31 in such a way that by pulling them

and thus the connection between the arm 26 and the tree ceases.
It is expedient to arrange a spring 32 (FIG. 2) on the device described, which is applied to the tree when the device is left over and the entire device snaps backwards from the tree when the chain 2 is loosened.
The pulling of the ropes 18, 19 and thus the operation of the saw can be done in any way

wearing. the ropes 18, 19 are linked to the cranks 38 so that the ropes are alternately pulled by means of them.
