Verfahren zur Herstellung von Formgebilden aus
Polyglykolid oder einem vorwiegend aus
Glykolid erhaltenen Polymeren,

Process for the production of moldings
Polyglycolide or a predominantly from
Glycolide obtained polymers,
The invention relates to the shaping of polyglycolide or a polymer predominantly obtained from glycolide and develops the method according to patent no. 233,254 further. This process relates to the polymerization of glycolide, optionally with the addition of its homologues, and consists in that the polymerization, expediently in the presence of catalysts, is carried out continuously in a screw press, the temperature in the screw press preferably being graded so that it depends on the Filling side rises from 800 to about 2200C and then decreases again slightly up to the discharge point.
If the polymer obtained in this way is to be converted into shaped structures, the entire mass would have to be melted again. There is a risk that the macromolecules will be partially degraded and thus the quality of the polymer or the molded structure will suffer.
In order to avoid this disadvantage, according to the invention the polymer obtained according to patent no. 233 254 is deformed with the aid of a known device attached to the end of the screw press, polymerisation and deformation being a continuous operation. Such a device would be, for example, a spray head, by means of which, depending on its type, wires, threads, tapes, hoses, foils or the like can be produced. The moldings obtained are drawn off in the customary manner and, if appropriate after stretching, are wound up while passing through a cooling or temperature bath with an inert liquid or through a zone which allows cooling by gases.

The revolutions of the screw are 80 rev / min. The thread is immediately quenched under the spinneret (diameter 2 mm) attached to the screw press and drawn off at a speed of 8.3 m / min. The thread can be cold drawn in a ratio of 1: 5.5 between two roller centers.
In the case of hot drawing, the thread is passed through a zone of increased temperature

out, which is 40-160 C depending on the stretching speed. A thread stretched at 1000C in a ratio of 1: 7 has a strength of up to 50 Rkm with a 12.1% elongation.
Example 2: A polymer according to Example 1 is pressed through a spinneret with six bores (diameter 0.5 mm). The threads can be drawn warm or cold.
Example 3: An intimate mixture of glycolide, lactide, catalyst and 1% carbon black is polymerized according to Example 1. The black colored polymer obtained is injected from a hose nozzle arranged on the screw press into a cooling bath.
