Device to ensure the even supply of arc light electrodes, which rest on a support below.
The present invention relates to a device for ensuring the uniform replenishment of arc light electrodes, the replenishment of which takes place by uninterrupted, gradual burning of a lateral support tip, and is characterized by a sleeve or the like surrounding the electrodes above the lateral support point of their tip, which by virtue of their material and its shape dissipates the excess heat from the electrode, in particular the contact tip. The surface and mass of the heat dissipation sleeve must be so large that the sleeve itself cannot start to glow.
By using this lateral heat dissipation sleeve or the like, even with carbon pencils with only a very narrow lateral burn-off edge and even with ordinary electrodes with a circular cross-section, the uniform formation of a lateral support point protruding beyond the crater is automatically made possible and thus a continued even supply of the electrode brought about.
In the drawing, FIGS. 1 and 2 show in side view and in a cross section an embodiment of the replenishment device according to the present invention, in which the carbon pin a is equipped only with a very narrow and little over the circular cross section protruding burn card b, which is on a slightly obliquely downward resting surface with the delicate tip d that forms during the operation of the lamp. Above the support point, the arc light electrode is surrounded by a sleeve f made of metal, which has a relatively large mass and sufficient radiation surface to be able to dissipate the heat absorbed by the electrode to the air without getting red hot itself.
The support c usefully forms a finely connected whole with the l \ It'tallhUlse, so a sufficient one
To effect dissipation of the heat carried by the support edge
