Process for the production of hollow bodies with a bulged
Wall made of thermoplastic plastic
The invention relates to a method for the production of hollow bodies with bulged walls made of thermoplastic material, which works in the known manner in which a plastic pipe continuously exiting from a nozzle in the plastic state is fed in from the side by chain-like connected, each associated with a pipe half Hollow forms moving along with the pipe are captured and expanded by internal overpressure during its movement.
Such a method has so far been used for the production of small bottles (ampoules) and the like. Like., but not known for the production of tubes with a bulged wall. In the manufacture of bottles and. The like. Which are then cut from the strand, do not close the bulges directly to one another, but are connected to one another by unexpanded strand pieces, so that the hollow shapes can also be spaced from one another.
In contrast, the invention solves the problem of producing a plastic pipe with a wall that is uniformly corrugated over its entire length using the continuously operating process mentioned at the outset. The object was achieved in such a way that hollow molds are used with grooved walls extending over their entire length in the direction of movement, with adjacent hollow molds closing tightly to one another in the position surrounding the tube.
In order to produce tubes with a wave-shaped bulging wall, it has also been proposed to close axially divided dies in steps around the respectively pressed stationary piece of tube, the internal overpressure producing the bulges. However, such an intermittent mode of operation encounters extraordinary difficulties in practice, because it is hardly possible to let a pipe press work intermittently in order to combine it with a deformation device of the type described.
In contrast, the method according to the invention works completely continuously, so that it can be carried out without any difficulty with a normal, continuously operating pipe press.
The drawing shows schematically an embodiment of a device for performing the method.
The plastic pipe 1 emerges from the nozzle 2 of the screw press 3 in the warm, plastic state.
Immediately after exiting, it is expanded by means of compressed air supplied through the nozzle 2 and pressed against the shaping elements 4, 4 'and gradually solidifies as it moves on.
The elements 4 are prismatic hollow bodies made of rigid material, the cavity of which represents the negative profile of a tube half to be produced, so that each pair of hollow bodies that meet represents a full negative profile of a tube section. All hollow bodies 4 or 4 'are by means of suitable joints
