In the diverter switch according to the invention, current dividers can also be connected upstream of the interrupting contacts in a manner known per se in order to reduce the contact wear. It

tet, which are transformer-coupled to one another, these inductances in turn being preceded by ohmic resistances in order to achieve stability of the arcing caused during contact separation. Compared to the known switching method, not only can the number of current dividers be reduced, but the individual elements of the current dividers only need to be designed for the briefly flowing load current.
On the basis of four figures which show the switching positions to be assumed by the movable contact during the switching process from one stage to the other, this will be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment according to the invention.
In FIG. 1, 1 denotes the main winding and 2 denotes the step winding of a phase of a transformer, the step winding 2 having only been provided with an ice tap 3 for the sake of simplicity. In the shown position of the movable contact 4 of the diverter switch, the load current flows directly through the fixed contact 5. 6 and 7 denote interruption elements, between which the resistor 8 is arranged in series, the interruption element closest to the tap to be selected 7 is open while the interruption element 6 is closed. The ends of the resistor 8 are in galvanic connection with the fixed contacts 9 and 10.
If the switching process is to be carried out from one tap to the other, the movable contact 4 first reaches the contact 9, as can be seen from FIG. 2, with no erosion occurring when the contact 5 is left, since this is the moment at the load current flows through the interruption element 6. The movable contact 4 - as FIG. 3 shows - is moved to the contact 10 via the stationary contact 9, with the contact 9 and the movable contact 4 being eroded for the first time due to the load current to be separated. The movable contact 4 is further stressed to erosion when the movable contact 4 leaves the contact 10. At this time, however, the movable contact 4 has already reached the fixed contact.
EMI2.2
the moving contact 4 only the cross current is separated.
When the switching process has ended, the interruption element 6 is opened and then the interruption element 7 is subsequently closed so that the load switch is ready for the next switching process.
Of course, the switchover principle described with reference to the figures can also be transferred to the known toggle and segment switches. A particular advantage arises here from the fact that the above-mentioned TjesentSch can be simplified by using this over-switching principle.
