EMI1.1
The purpose of the present apparatus is to separate the naphtha vapors of various specific weights at every moment during the distillation process. Fig. 1 shows in section the column including the dephlegmator, Fig. 2 shows the arrangement of the plates in the column and Fig. 3 shows a partial section of the dephlegmator.
The gasoline column "(Fig. 1) connected to a distillation boiler by means of pipeline 1 is attached to a walled situation outside the boiler house and consists of several compartments which are surrounded by a jacket 2. The space between the double jacket is filled with some bad heat conductor 3 In each compartment there are plates, of which those marked 4 (FIG. 2) have a bottom that is bent upwards in the middle so that an opening is formed, whereas the other 5 are flat and have a smaller diameter than the compartments The plates 4 are riveted on, while the plates 5 are attached to the first by means of lobes ss.
Each pair of plates (4 and 5) is connected to an overflow pipe 7. On the gasoline

In the upper half of the dephlegmator there is a water tank 12; it communicates with the upper floor by means of a few tubes and with the inner jacket sheet of the Dephtegmator by means of the tube 14. Cold water is pumped into the Dephtegmator through the tube 15; 16 is an overflow pipe, otherwise the water can be completely drained from the dephlegmator using the drain cock 17 if necessary.
The pipe 18 serves to discharge the dephined vapors after the cooler.
The vapors flowing from a distillation kettle have to travel quite a long way as they rise up the ssenzinc column. between plates 4 and. 5 (Fig. 2), where they are forced to come into contact not only with the cold surfaces of the latter, but also with the inner jacket plate of the column. The specifically heavier vapors are consequently liquefied and drip from the plates through the overflow pipe 7 down to the bottom of the column and are diverted back to the boiler in the appropriate eye-opening by means of the pipe 19. The complete condensation of the specifically heavier vapors takes place in the dephlegmator, so that only the very volatile gasoline vapors are discharged through the pipe 18 after the cooler.
However, if less volatile vapors are also to get into the cooler, only a small amount of water needs to be allowed to flow out of the pipe 15 so that the dephiegmator heats up and therefore no complete condensation takes place. In this way it is possible to carry out the separation of the vapors of various specific weights as required.
