Process for increasing the effect of blowing agents in the production of cellular plastics
It has been shown that the effect of the blowing agents used in the production of cellular rubber or cellular synthetic resins, e.g. B. the alkali bicarbonate or ammonium bicarbonate by using the same in a mixture with humic substances such. B. peat, is increased significantly. It has not yet been possible to establish with certainty whether this effect is due to the chemical reaction of the carbonates with the humic acids or to the surface effects of the humic products or both of these possible processes.
For example, it has been shown that the mixture of 10 parts by weight of peat moss and 1 part by weight of potassium bicarbonate is surprisingly able to exert a stronger propellant effect than 11 parts by weight of potassium bicarbonate without the addition of peat moss. In the result of comparative tests given below, TM 11 denotes a mixture which consists of 10 parts by weight of peat litter and 1 part by weight of potassium bicarbonate and thus contains only 9.1% potassium bicarbonate. This mixture is comminuted to the fineness of the flour by thorough grinding in a ball mill for two days.

From the table above it can be seen without further ado that mixtures No. II and IV, although they only contain the active substance (potassium bicarbonate) compared to mixtures No.
I and III contain, both in the press and in hot air, vulcanizates with a much higher spec. Volume than that of the comparison mixtures No. I and III.
Another example shows another possible implementation. If two rubber mixtures are heated, one of which is 1-96% by weight of potassium bicarbonate, the second 18-03% by weight of propellant TM 11 (with its proportion of potassium

For example, equal parts of humic substance and propellant can be ground together and used.
